Recycled Paper Making
Ozone: Project Orbis
On 8th and 9th of September, Nyns collaborated with a team from Raffles Girls' School and conducted a workshop for the Ozone event.
Beeswax Wrap Making Workshop
Our workshop aims to repurpose preloved clothing into beeswax wraps. These are sustainable alternatives for plastic wrappers, made with food safe and natural materials. Additionally, beeswax is anti-bacteria and the food warps could be reused up to a year!
Recycling Heroes Plastic Collection
For the Recycling Heroes inter-school recycling programme, NYNS held an interclass recycling competition which also aims to encourage students to recycle plastics.
Plastic recyclables collected from the interclass competition will contribute to our school’s ranking on the Recycling Heroes inter-school recycling competition leaderboard (Various primary schools and secondary schools from all across Singapore would be competing too! ).
We held 3 mass collections on separate dates in the morning around the canteen area. Students actively contributed and all the mass collections were very hectic and busy! We are glad that students are doing their part to promote the culture of recycling. :)
All the plastic recyclables collected on the third mass collection date. We had to put them to the side and sort them out during CCA time.
Weighing of recyclables.
All the plastic recyclables stored in our Storeroom.

Clothes collection & donation

Took part in the Recycling Heroes campaign
What did we do well:
We were on task and managed to complete and carry out our projects well through coordinating our efforts as a team. We usually split up the focus group so that we can complete small tasks simultaneously (creating proposals, washing cans) so that we are efficient. We occasionally put aside some time for bonding activities like Buzzfeed Party Quizzes which are really fun and help us bond and create a more harmonious and enjoyable atmosphere during cca!
What we can do better:
Next year, we could try to plan ahead better. This year, upcycling had the interest of selling compost to the school. However, due to lack of planning in advance, we failed to gauge that we had little to no time for that project, and hence the compost sales have to be pushed forward to next year.
Plan for 2023:
Term 1
Recycling Heroes (Jan - April)
Donate books to library
(TBC) CNY goodies/container collection
Term 2
Save That Pen collection
Easter Sale (fundraising)
Term 3
(TBC) Thrift Store 'i am'
Cafe collab (sell upcycled products)
Term 4
Fairprice Share-A-Textbook 2023
Donate refilled pens
