Dazhong Primary Mentoring Project

As part of our continued effort to empower young environmental advocates, the Nanyang Nature Society (NYNS) partnered with Dazhong Primary School to launch their very own “Save the Pen” Initiative. This project aimed to support Primary 4 and 5 prefects in learning how to initiate and sustain meaningful environmental projects within their school.

Across four interactive sessions, our student facilitators guided Dazhong pupils through the fundamentals of event planning and sustainability advocacy. Students enthusiastically designed pen collection boxes, drafted announcements, and coordinated logistics to donate used pens to the Golden Village of Hope.

To further enrich their learning journey, we also invited the Dazhong prefects to visit our school. There, they were introduced to NYNS's CCA activities, including how our student-run café operates, how we upcycle materials into usable items, and how our backyard farm contributes to sustainable living. They even had a hands-on experience making drinks and learning about the behind-the-scenes work of our green initiatives.

Through this initiative and exchange, not only were used writing instruments diverted from landfills, but students also gained practical experience, and developed leadership, teamwork, and a stronger sense of environmental responsibility. We are incredibly proud of these budding changemakers and deeply appreciative of our partnership with Dazhong Primary School in nurturing a greener, more sustainable school community.

作为我们持续推动青少年环保教育的一部分，南洋大自然学会与大众小学合作，协助他们发起了校园“拯救圆珠笔”环保行动。此项目旨在帮助四、五年级的风纪学习习如何在校园内策划并维持有意义的环保项目。

在四次富有互动的工作坊中，我们的学生助教带领大众小学的学生们学习活动策划与环保倡导的基本知识。他们积极设计了回收圆珠笔的收集箱，撰写宣传公告，并成功协调将回收笔捐赠给 Golden Village of Hope。

为了让他们的学习旅程更加丰富，我们还邀请大众小学的风纪们到本校参观交流。他们了解了 NYNS 联课活动的日常运作，包括学生主导的环保咖啡馆如何运营、如何将废弃材料升级再造、以及我们后院农场如何推广可持续生活。他们还亲自体验了饮料制作过程，深入了解校园绿色行动的幕后工作。

这项合作不仅有效减少了废弃书写工具对环境的负担，更为学生们提供了宝贵的实践机会，培养了他们的领导力、团队协作能力与环保责任感。南洋大自然学会对这些积极行动的小小环保领袖感到无比骄傲，并非常感谢能与大众小学携手共建绿色、可持续的校园文化。
