Student Biographies 

Catherine Wong Xin Yun, 13 year old. Single child who enjoys solitude. She has many hobbies that range from gaming to reading to a love for studying 👯 She also likes bujo, calligraphy, AND WAS FROM DEBATE in primary school! She wants to become a vet 🐧

Claudia Koh En Qi has 2 siblings, an older sister named Charlotte and a younger brother named Zachary. She enjoys baking but is unable to do it often. She usually bakes with her mother; Chocolate chip cookies being her favourite thing to bake.

 She is closest to her older sister, Charlotte, as they talk to each other every day. They are able to have conversations about the most random things and enjoy sharing about their day. They also enjoy having conversations about common experiences/interests they share. An example of common experiences they share is that both Claudia and her sister go to Nanyang.

Claudia’s secret (not so secret weakness) is that she is more reserved as compared to her peers. Thus, she is also more inclined to approach someone who matches her energy (quieter). To overcome this weakness, Claudia takes advantage of group work to get to know people better since communication is a necessity in group work.

One extra fun fact about Claudia is that she enjoys working with children as she finds them cute

Her full name is Elin Sim Pei Yi 沈佩儀 and she has one older sister who's also in Nanyang, in class 405. Her sister's name is Emma 沈佩璇 and she's in sailing.

She used to sleep in the same room with her sister and moved out year relatively. Although she considers herself relatively close to her sister, her sister gets annoyed when she interrupts her for help in homework.

Despite being in the bicultural elective programme in Taonan primary school, Chinese is not one of her strong subjects, neither is it her favorite. This can be shown through her spotify playlist, in which there is only English songs. On that note, fun fact: she has spotify premium, but only listens to music while doing work. Her current favorite song is "skin" by Sabrina Carpenter, but her favorite song always changes as time passes.

Mathematics is her favorite subject and she tried to DSA math and science to NUS and got a confirmed offer,  but she decided to take the waitlist from NYGH.

She is currently procrastinating her SMO questions.

Multitalented, she has also learned wushu since primary one.

Elin was unable to give a name of her closest person and was mildly distressed about it,

In the future, she initially wanted to be a singer because of her talent for singing, which can be seen through the fact that she has won her primary school singing competitions multiple times. Afterwards, she had thought of being a doctor, lawyer, dentist and teacher, though currently she is unsure what she aspires to be when she grows up.

Her secret weakness is that she gets very shy when she meets new people. Elin also shared her fears of failing examinations, losing her loved ones, the unknown and death. Another endearing fact about Elin is that occasionally, she gets really attached to items  ranging from soft toy to random objects, so long as she finds them cute.

Francesca Widjaja 黄诗嘉 has two siblings. Their names are Elena (12) and Cassandra (8). Francesca enjoys swimming, reading and gaming. She is closet to her mother because she always takes care of her, listens to her problems and gives her advice. Francesca is not too sure about what she wants to become when she grows up yet, but she is interested in culinary and science. Her family thinks she will be good to be a nutritionist in the future. Francesca thinks her secret weakness is that she’s not that communicative and she can’t really make friends. She is not always talkative. Francesca doesn’t have any methods to solve it as of now but her family suggests that she can talk more to start conversations.

Tiffany’s full name is Tiffany lum qian han. She has an older brother and her closest people on earth are her parents. She enjoys embroidery and aspires to major in finance. Her weakness is the subject science.

Wen yu is a cat person who enjoys playing piano and likes to play genshin. The person she’s closest to is Noelle as she has known her for a very long time and she thinks that she’s an amazing person. My name is Natalie Low Jia En. I have a 10 year old brother named Nathaniel. We share a room, and he annoys me by claiming he is entitled to using my table, yet I am not allowed to use his!

I enjoy listening to music, and I do it every day! I listen to K-Pop and alternative music, and my favourite artists are Stray Kids and Chase Atlantic. When I listen to music, I feel contented. It's not thrilling or boring, but it gives me a sense of enjoyment. I hope that music is something that everyone can enjoy.

I am closest to myself. I spend most of my time by myself, and I enjoy my own company. I still enjoy spending time with people though, and getting to know them. The next person I'm closest to is my Mom! I interact most with her, and of ny family I am most casual with her.

i want to be a psychologist. I find people's minds interesting, and I also want to get to know myself better.

Alyssa Teo Zhi Qi is a awesome sec 2 who has a younger sister whom she named Ariel while in her The Little Mermaid Phase 🧜‍♀️🧜‍♀️. Her hobbies consist of laughing at Try Not To Laugh Memes, kpop, reading manga and procrastinating. The people who she is closest to😻 are her grandparents who play an active role in her childhood. She is unsure of what she wants to do when she grows older and is easily infected by other people's laughter!

Xiong Zhihan: She has an older brother who is 17 years old. Sleeping and doing algebra when bored is some things she enjoys doing. She wants to be in the financial industry when she grows up/ or wants to be a lawyer. Although she likes doing math, she ironically hates math. One of the best things introduced into her life is Notion.

Sik Ting En (Xue Ting En) is a cheerful 14 year old with 3 siblings, a brother Cheen Yik (9) and 2 sisters, Ting Rue (7) and Ting Xuan (2). She has a strong passion for singing as she does it daily. During sleepless nights, she finds comfort in doodling at midnight LOL. Ting En, loved by her many friends, has one particular companion that she can count on; Eda. They rely dearly on each other to get through life together #bestiesforlife! In the bright future of hers, Ting En wishes to chase after her dreams to be a cardiologist as she finds it an interesting and exciting career choice. However amazing Ting En may be, she is human afterall. Her weakness is having a very pessimistic mindset which affects her decision-making negatively. Fortunately, she has overcome her negativity with the help of her very supportive friends who has spread their positivity to her. Hence, her opinions have become happier and more positive and she will not think of the worst outcome immediately whenever she encounters a problem. In conclusion, Sik Ting En is a very sexy and beautiful human being who will have a very smooth sailing future ahead. 🌞🌞🌞

Allyssa Foo Hui Wen is a secondary 2 student in nygh. She fancies the Marvel Cinematic Universe, particularly the character Loki 😼. She likes to play badminton in her free time. She has a younger sister named Gwenda and shares a neutral relationship with her, though she expressed that she would like 2 brothers: 1 older and 1 younger 😱. She is close to her parents, especially her mom. As of now, she does not have her eye set on any specific jobs, but shared that Science related industries interest her! Her weakness is public speaking, which she would attempt to surmount through more active participation in class 💪😆

NAME: Oh Zhi Qi Amelia

FAMILY: I have one 11 year old brother whose name is Kayden. I would describe my relationship with him as a love-hate relationship. Kayden is a bright and lovely sibling, but he can sometimes be a pain. 

CLOSEST TO: I am closest to myself. I think that having interactions with yourself helps me to better understand and accept myself for who I am. Checking in with myself would also help me to know how I am doing and ensure that I am physically and mentally alright.

HOBBY: One hobby would be binge watching. I mainly watch K-dramas on Netflix almost every day. Watching K-drama has been a hobby since I was 5 years old, my first K-drama I have ever watched is called “Unknown Woman”! 

DREAM JOB: I want to be a pastry chef or a chef in general. I have a huge passion for baking and cooking delicious food. Cooking school also sounds interesting and fun, it seems like a school I would be willing to attend. I am also interested in being a surgeon. I think that being a surgeon is cool and fun. However, I am scared too that I may mess up an operation especially since being a surgeon means having the lives of people in my hands.  

WEAKNESS: I get easily distracted when studying as I have a really short attention span. However, I try to prevent this from happening by searching on Youtube for videos of people vlogging their own study sessions. I usually select videos that are about two hours long, or those study sessions whereby there are 5 minute breaks every 30 minutes. Of course, this method is not completely effective as sometimes I get sidetracked and not study, but practice makes perfect and with time, I am sure that I will be less distracted when studying.

Early Life:

Liu Weijia was born on 9 Sept 2008, in Singapore. From humble beginnings, she secured a place in Nanyang Girls’ High School through her perseverance and determination. 

It was reported that Oh Zhi Qi Amelia is her closest friend, maintaining a hopefully stable relationship throughout an impressive 1.5 years.

Today, she stands at a majestic height of 1.5m, so perhaps she has a soft spot for the number 1.5.

An avid castle-in-the-sky builder, Weijia has revealed that her lifelong aspiration is to marry a rich guy/girl, and indulge in a myriad of hobbies. These include playing Genshin (and none other games), drawing and watching Youtube. Realistically however, Weijia expressed that she aspired to be doctor of some sort, except for being a surgeon. While the reason behind her statement has yet to be clarified by Weijia herself, i t is believed that she is grossed out by certain parts of the prestigious profession, as observed through half of her facial expressions above the mask.

One important detail was reported that Weijia likes her egg whites well done and egg yolks medium rare. This undoubtedly shows her inclination to pay great attention to details, although the question about whether she applies it to her other endeavours, can only be left unanswered.

Weijia, however, does have another side of her life that many may not know of. On an unassuming Friday in 2022, she claimed that her original identity is an alien, and killed a girl for her skin. Apparently she had a secret mission here on Earth. Investigations are still ongoing.

Noelle Lee Hsuen is 14, and has an older brother named Matthew, who is very tall compared to her. Her hobbies include journaling and cooking, but she does not journal as often now because it is very time-consuming, and she does not have that much of time. As for cooking, every Friday, she makes dinner for herself, and she gets to experiment with recipes. 

The person she is closest to is Wen Yu as they’ve known each other for a very long time, and they click really well together. She hasn’t really decided on what she wants to be when she grows up, but she wants to study overseas for university because she thinks it would be an interesting experience. 

Her secret weakness is that she is an introvert. While she finds that for herself social interaction can be quite tiring at times, but to overcome that, she still tries to allow herself enough time alone to relax so she would not find it tiring to be involved in social activities.

What's in your mind as you walk to backyard from the vending machine? For Esme, one half of nature society's activity coordinators; Clarabellesme, it's head empty, try to avoid tripping over the strings in the shape of a square that npcc has set up. Esme, who doesn't have any siblings, likes to read partially pretenious works and watch stuff on disney+. She is closest to her parents, her mother knows all about her likings and her father brings her out for good food. Lastly, in the near future, she would like to change to the science stream in JC.

Zhu ZiXuan grew up as an only child until her sister came to this world around 5 years after she was born. Although they have a huge age gap, ZiXuan and her sister, ZiXiao, are surprisingly quite close to each other. Although ZiXuan might only be 15 years old this year, don't look down at her young age! Most people around her age that I know usually like to read, watch movies or study during their leisure time, but not Zi Xuan! Instead, she likes gaming, and even talking about politics with her friends. She hopes to become a politician one day as she is passionate about it and finds it very interesting. If that path doesn’t work out in the future, she is planning to be a forensic scientist, doctor or e-sports player, because they are all related to her hobbies. She is closest to her friend, JW, as they have been in the same class for almost three years now. They both like the same things and they also help each other in their studies. Growing up, her favourite and best subject was always Mathematics, so she usually helps her friend with math problems. One of her secret weaknesses is that she cannot tolerate cute people, so to overcome that, she tries her best to tolerate them when she sees them! ZiXuan has a friendly personality and is always open to help out others. She is always willing to take out sometime in her day to lend a helping hand! 

Cailyn Tan Yee Sing is a 15 year old girl who studies in Nygh. She has a younger brother, Aiden, who is 12 this year and will be taking his psle. During her free time, cailyn likes watching Korean drama and reading non fiction books. She is closest to her mother and frequently talks to her mother about her problems. She aspires to be in the medical or finance department when she grows older. Her secret weakness is that she is shy when talking to others, and she wants to be proactive when conversing with others.

5. Not very sure, currently conflicted but most probably a researcher in oncology meaning a cancer doctor. This is related to my experiences growing up having 2 parents struck with end stage cancer and learning to deal with the pain but also having a newfound passion for learning about these types of conditions and how to prevent them as much  as possible.

6. Interacting with people because when I meet people for the first time I get very bad anxiety. I start shaking and fidgeting (proof is at how at sec 1 ice breakers I injured my hand frm being too speedy out of anxiety). I try my best to ground myself and prevent incidences like that from happening and tell myself that these people will be my friends and not my foes :)

Her full name is Mao Weiya and this is her chinese name 毛薇雅. She also has an older sister called Mao Liya 毛丽雅. They share the same room :o Weiya’s mum is 170cm tall and her dad is 178cm. She has tall genes :D 

She was from unity primary school. Weiya’s closest person is her sister because they’ve been living together with her ever since she can remember and they’re really close in age but they still argue a lot as all siblings do :/ Weiya wants to be a Chinese writer when she grows up because she’s always had some passion for Chinese literature, Chinese lover~

Parents. Because they raised her and spent the longest time with her

When she wants to say something, she would have a dilemma and the moment passes, and she doesn’t say anything. She tries to be more open and have less of a filter(don’t get too anxious) to overcome this

Clarabelle has two older siblings, Lucas and Jayden, who are 20 and 18 this year. As official adults now, they are rarely at home, and even when do, they spend their time in their own rooms. She understands that, because she would too. 

In her spare time, she likes to read. She does it mainly as a form of escapism, but also needs to appreciate the literary beauty of it before she can escape. Though not her favourite prose of all time, she goes around saying that her favourite book is the last of a series called 5 Kingdoms, because it is the only book that has made her cry before. She read the entire pentalogy when she was 8. She's unsure if she cried because of the writing was beautiful, or because she was more emotionally developed then than she is now. Regardless, she now reads less to feel and more to imagine.

She is also closest to herself. She believes that since she spends every waking hour of her life with herself, it would be a huge pity if she didn't enjoy spending time with herself. She has multiple personas in her own head, each with distinct characters, and they just converse with each other in her mind. When she is alone, she says these thoughts out too. However, she sometimes grows tired of narrating her stream of consciousness and shuts her mouth, because they are just as difficult as she is. (she is them, afterall)

She believes the point of secret weaknesses are to keep them secret, but she also admits that she chooses to believe that messy tables allow her to know clearly where her items are, as compared to neat ones. She shares that there is a paper clip lying to the right of the left leg of her study table. 

She also wears Nat Geog shirts (as seen above), and in turn actually believes that to be a strength, though to her friends, a major character flaw. She considers surrounding herself with better company. Another one of these "strength/weaknesses" are that arthropods are some of her favourite animals. She chooses to believe her friends call them "silly worms" out of affection.

She also has to constantly remind herself that words in everyday speech are not as purposeful and intended as the works she reads, so reading between those lines are in fact driving her further off the path. Despite that, she sometimes speaks like so, and gets disappointed when people don't understand "I wonder which one of us will die first" means "let's spend the rest of our lives together".  The last weakness she shares is that understands the "secret" in "secret weakness", as well as the singularity of the word "weakness", but views them as general guidelines instead.

Julia Luong Qi Zhi is a kind fourteen year old girl that always tries to help others! She has a 16 year old sister, Hilary, who likes to take Julia’s things, so Julia doesn’t really like her a lot. Julia’s hobbies include drawing and dreaming. She enjoys drawing cute drawings during her free time. She also frequently dreams at night about various things that happen during the day, including CCA. However, sometimes she experiences fictional dreams such as a school excursion to Orchard Road where she got bombed three times but somehow didn’t die.

Alyssa Ng has a sister who just graduated from jc, Alyssa loves her but her love language is probably not expressing her love towards her sister

Alyssa has a hobby, something that she had just gotten into recently - reading. She used to like kpop bands like BlackPink and EXO, but she gave up on that some time ago.

Sec 4 student in Nanyang Girls High School , Faith Leong, is 16 years old this year. She has a wonderful sister, Megan Leong, who is 21 this year. Her sister works part-time by checking the health status of people who enter buildings.Faith absolutely loves k-pop and it instantly puts her in an amazing mood. She also likes to sleep in her freetime so that she can catch up on it and it is one of her many interesting hobbies. She always loves to eat good food so if you want her to be in a good mood, buying her good food is the way to go! However, nothing beats the scrumptious meals her mother makes for her,especially when it comes to creamy radish soup and cheese related foods, yum! Faith also enjoys drawing and doodling as it is fun and simple to do.Faith is closest to her mother and she loves to share experiences with her at the dinner table. At the moment, she is learning more about language and science. Though she is not quite sure what she wants to be when she grows older, she believes that doing well and working hard now can give her more choices to decide from when she sets out for work. Her one secret weakness is that she doesn’t like to open up to others and share her problems. This is because she believes that many people might be quite stressed. Consequently, sharing her problems would cause them to feel more stressed and cause her to feel more stressed as well. To overcome this, she wants to have a short fix time with her friends to share her problems to create a safe place for them to share their problems as well with the ultimate goal of coping with the problems together:)

Xia Yi Chen is a secondary 4 student in nanyang girls high school. Born in 2006, she has an elder sister, Xia Yi Fei, 18, and a younger brother, Xia Yi Hao, 8. 

Yi Chen is the focus group leader of backyard, one of the four focus groups in her CCA nature society.

School is also where she met the person she is closest to, her classmate who helped her stop procrastinating during the EOY period.

Yi Chen enjoys surfing the internet and watching YouTube daily.

As she finds prolonged human interact tiring, Yi Chen hopes to have a future occupation related to math and or science, preferably lab work, with minimal human interaction.

Yi Chen’s not-much-of-a-secret secret weakness is motion sickness. Thus she can often be found sleeping and having a mint candy when on a moving vehicle.

A kind and responsible person, Yi Chen leaves a good impression on everyone she meets.

Sarah is a passionate and friendly girl with a love for young children. The secondary 4 female desires to be one of the best kindergarten teachers, an ambition fueled by her attachment to children.

She has a huge family with 2 older siblings and 2 younger brothers. Her youngest sibling, Julien, aged 5, is one of the people she is closest with, simply because of his young age. To her, interacting with young kids makes her feel younger and more relaxed. After all, kids are bubbling with excitement and happiness — the only sun she’ll risk her eyes to look at. 

However, she is still battling the habit of procrastination. With the increase of distractions in the 21st century, such as Netflix and Youtube, it is becoming increasingly difficult for Sarah to start her work and finish it days before her deadline. Instead, she often finds herself rushing her work and burning the midnight oil to submit her essay at the last minute, literally.

qingyang is a gamer 🎮 who also likes cycling 🚲 and baking 👩🏻‍🍳!

her secret weakness is that she likes cats 🐈❤️but cats don’t like her 😔. how she overcomes it is by bringing cat food to bribe them 😗

Sister of 2 brothers, Daughter of Mother Earth, and a Member of the Nanyang Nature Society, Anthea Yeo is often spotted in the wild with neat bangs and a smile that could melt your heart. Brother Number One, Brian, and Brother Number Two, Asher, are both very dear to her. Of course, she has no favourites!.. But do not judge her so quickly by her kind, deceiving appearance. A little birdie whispers that Anthea in fact bullies Asher, despite him being 3 years her senior! 

When Anthea isn’t busy making her brothers’ lives miserable, she enjoys playing online games such as Roblox. Her passion for this game goes as far as creating Roblox content and editing videos to be posted on social media platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and even TikTok! She also loves painting - one day, her painted cherry blossom trees and butterflies will definitely come to life in the Louvre. Just you wait!

My partner’s full name is Cheah Mika, she is in sec four. Mika have twin sister called Kika who is also 16 but in another school.Her hobby is to read and check out social media whenever she is free. Mika is closest to her sister as they are of the same age group and could relate to each other. So far, she does not have much plans for her future. Mika’s secret weakness is that she overestimates her abilities by thinking that she could finish a task in an hour but actually it takes her two hours.

Zhou Siyan Celene likes listening to music (anything you name: English songs, Chinese songs, Korean songs, even Classical music) and likes sleeping. She has a brother in university (National University of Singapore 5th year), who is 24 years old this year. She is the closest to her mother, and talks to her the most at home. Her mother helps her with her questions and they share funny photos or videos of themselves with each other. Celene is interested in psychology and pharmacy and wants to learn more about mental health and medicine. And even she isn’t the most perfect. She thinks that sometimes she’s a bit too perfectionist and procrastinates on certain things. Only when she thinks that she is running out of time, then she does her work. Facing this problem, she tries to set deadlines for when she wants her work to be done.

Chang Yu Qing is a very friendly Secondary 4 senior in Nanyang Girls' High. The youngest of 4 siblings - Yu Xiang(21), Yu Xin(20), and Yu Le(17)- Yu Qing turns 16 this August the seventh.

Yu Qing's hobbies include sleeping, eating, watching Korean dramas and Anime. In her other words, wasting time every second of her life. Her closest friend would be her bed, who accompanies her while she lies in it everyday.😄

When Yu Qing grows up, she aspires to become either a bartender or a grab food driver! Quoting her, she finds it "very cool to shake the drinks"😎 so she wants to try out a job as a bartender. She also intends to get a license for a motorbike as soon as she can and pursue being a grab food driver.

However, Yu Qing finds that one of her weaknesses is being unable to control her volume while talking. She's working very hard to change this though! With support and reminders from her friends.

Sun Zhuoran has one sibling—an older brother who is 34 years old and, unfortunately, stuck overseas due to the Covid-19 pandemic (as of March 2022). She particularly enjoys reading Chinese books in addition to manga and Webtoons, though she can only do so once a week due to a hectic school schedule. She is closest to her mom who she spends the most time with, especially since her mom rarely goes overseas. While she is still not entirely sure of her future aspirations, Zhuoran plans to go into either medicine or research, fueled by her love of animals and plants. While her weakness is her inability to project her voice, which causes her to be unable to answer questions in class, she finds that more practice in a familiar environment helps her improve in this aspect.

While she dutifully leads the pack as the CCA's beloved BEL, Soh Jiamin from 407 also enjoys scrapbooking as a pasttime. What goes into her scrapbook ranges from her lovely assemblage of stickers to old receipts she can get her hands on. When inspiration strikes, or rather, when the vibes come, these seemingly mundane pieces of paper fall into Jiamin's scrapbook, transforming the blank page into a stupendous collage. In cafe, Jiamin's heart lights up with joy when she gets the chance to pump out the wonderfully thick chocolate syrup, which she adds to about all her lattés.  This year (2022), Jiamin gets to blow the birthday candles and turn 16 on Sunday, 4th of September. Her younger sister, Jiaxian, studies at Chung Cheng High School and serves her CCA, Festival Drums, as a section leader. One of Jiamin's pet peeves include dirt under the nails, especially those with long nails. To end it off, if Jiamin could be someone in NYNS, she would love to be Ms Ning in order to be able to wear contact lenses daily and go hiking every week.

Yap En Ting was born on 7 June and has an older brother and sister, who are now 22 and 19 respectively.  

She is very passionate about her hobbies, which include (ordered from most intense to least): playing Sky COTL, watching kdrama, playing Genshin Impact, and listening to kpop, all of which she does on a(n almost) daily basis 🎮🎶📺. In fact, she has more passion for her hobbies than her will to attend school. Yet, she is forever chained to the harsh truth that is reality and is aware that her hobbies would be a soul-sucking vortex if she doesn't have school to worry about. Still, she hopes to be rich enough to pursue said hobbies in the future. 💰

Additionally, En Ting is quite close to her classmate as they help her with homework and cope with the reality of school as well as play Sky together. 👍

Her secret weakness is hot boys 😍, or just hot people in general, and this is one flaw she embraces wholeheartedly - it’s why her party consists of the likes of Zhongli and why she wants a husband to satisfy her thirst. 👫
