CCSD Attendance Policy: Reporting Absences

Parents and Guardians:

Attendance is a priority for all CCSD students. Students must maintain good attendance while attending a magnet program. The form should be filled out using the email address of a parent or guardian listed in the Infinite Campus system. Please note that any submissions from a student's email or an email address not associated with the student in Infinite Campus will not be accepted.

Medical notes can be uploaded for doctor-related absences. It is CCSD policy that all submissions are time-stamped and must be within three (3) days of the student’s last absence.

Students with ten (10) excused or unexcused absences within a semester will be placed on magnet probation. The Attendance Team will reach out to families before the tenth absence to create a plan to improve attendance. Any child placed on probation, and continues to accrue absences and/or tardies, may be dismissed from the magnet program at the end of the school year. Any child who is absent or tardy more than ten (10) days per progress reporting period may not be able to attend the grade-level field trips or enrichment activities. Excessive absences may lead to retention in the current grade level if absences create a deficit in academics. Per CCSD Regulations: Students who exceed twenty (20) absences during the school year may be retained in the current grade. The school may also file Educational Neglect. Students with twenty (20) consecutive excused or unexcused absences will also be withdrawn for non-attendance. Staff will reach out to families prior to the twentieth absence to assist in getting the student to return to school.
