ADMINISTRATION
I am honored to be the Principal of Gordon McCaw STEAM Academy Elementary School. I am excited to be part of a faculty and staff committed to providing the best possible education for every child in a safe, nurturing environment. I look forward to building on this tradition of academic excellence.
Professionally, I have been an active and supportive member of the Henderson Community for many years. I graduated from the University of Cincinnati and University of Nevada Las Vegas where I majored in Education, Fine Arts Photography, and Educational Administrative Leadership.
It is my promise to keep teaching and learning focused on meeting and exceeding standards for every child. It is my commitment to each one of our students to leave Gordon McCaw Elementary School prepared for higher education, equipped with critical thinking skills, and empowered with a love of learning.
I am excited to partner with McCaw's dynamic staff, business partners, and the strong group of parents, guardians, and extended families who make up our community. We welcome volunteers in our classrooms, activities and programs. Our teachers invite ongoing communication with families, and our door is always open. I appreciate your input, and I look forward to working with you and your child(ren) in these very important first years of school.
I am thrilled to serve as your Assistant Principal! Education is a big part of my life and, I am proud to be the first one in my family to graduate from college! I hold a degree in Health Science from the University of Nevada, on a full ride track scholarship, along with two masters. One Masters is from Sierra Nevada College in Educational Instruction and the other from University of Nevada Las Vegas in Educational Leadership. I have been an assistant principal for seven years and have taught twelve years in the district teaching all grade levels first through fifth. I have even experience as a specialist, teaching theater! Everyone always asks me which grade I most enjoyed and my answer is the same, all of them! If you understand kids, gain their respect and admiration they will learn anything for you! I believe that with a positive attitude and the knowledge of the curriculum students will rise to any occasion.
I am a Disney enthusiast, visiting 5 Disney locations (Europe, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Florida and California). A few of my favorite hobbies are coaching and judging gymnastics. I volunteer my time coaching kids with autism and love to dance. I am focused on student achievement and empowering teachers to continually gain knowledge of the curriculum by setting goals and high expectations.
