Make-Up Tests
ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO MAKE UP ANY MISSED TESTS
MAKE-UP TESTS & TEST RETAKES: Whether a student wishes to make up a missed test or to be retested to improve a low grade, this form must be completed in order to make an appointment. This must be submitted BEFORE the time/date of the appointment.
TEST RETAKES: The ability to retake a test is not a given. Students must meet requirements for eligibility.
To retake a test, a student must have already taken the ORIGINAL VERSION of the test. No retake will be offered if a student has missed the original version of the test and has already used the retake version in place of his/her original test.
A student must have put forth his/her best effort when taking the original test. For instance, students who refuse to do related classwork or refuse to prepare properly for the original test will not be allowed to retake the test. Also, students who intentionally plan to risk or accept a bad grade on the original test (possibly claiming, "I'll just take the retake") will not be allowed to retake the test.
Students may not retake a test on a whim. Students must spend at least 45 minutes preparing for the retake. Students who fail to prepare sufficiently may have a result that lowers their quarter grade!
The maximum score may be lower than 100%. (See "Course Specific Limitations" below.) Students who are simply making up a missed test are not subject to a limitation on the maximum score.
Students must retake the test within two weeks of the date that the original test was returned to the class.
If the original test is given at the end of the marking period, then time constraints may make it impossible for me to offer a retake. Your understanding is appreciated.
COURSE-SPECIFIC LIMITATIONS ON RETAKES: Students in College Prep are limited to only two retakes per quarter. There is no limit on the maximum retake score. Students in Algebra 2 (Honors Level) are limited to only two retakes per quarter and the score of a test that is retaken will incur a 15% point deduction so the maximum possible score is only 85% of the test's original value. (If only part of a multiple-part test is retaken, the point deduction may be less than 15% so you may be able to earn more than 85%. You will see more details about reducing the point deduction on the appointment form.)
During the 2023-2024 school year, Mr. Rogers is able to administer tests after school on Mondays in Room 205. To discuss other possibilities, see Mr. Rogers
