QUARTER 1 ASSESSMENTS (9/3/19 - 11/8/19)

1. "Relations & Functions (Class Website Quiz)" (9/5/19) -- Students take this test at home and use a computer or other device to access the test on our class site. Test topics include recognizing relations, functions, one-to-one functions, onto functions, etc. (Test Return Date: 9/11/2019)

2. "Function Notation, Domain & Range" (9/13/19) -- Test topics include simplifying expressions that are given in function notation and determining the domain and range of given functions. (Test Return Date: 9/18/219 or 9/19/19 or 9/20/19)

3. "HW Completion" (9/3/19 - 9/13/19) -- Homework is assigned nearly every day. This homework grade is a two-week accumulation of points earned during frequent spot checks. On days that homework is checked, an assignment that has been completed in its entirety, has appropriate work shown, and has been presented on time will be considered complete and receive full credit. Homework assignments that are incomplete or that are completed one day late will receive only partial credit. This homework grade is based on completion, not accuracy. Please remember that it is the responsibility of absentees to present their work. Barring extraordinary circumstances, absentees who neglect to present their make-up homework upon their return will not receive credit.

4. "Regression Analysis" (9/20/19 -- Test topics include determining regression equations to match given data, determining how well a regression equation fits given data, using a regression equation to make predictions, etc. This test was originally graded out of 24 points. However, the grade is being weighted with a multiplication factor of 1.667 so that it will have the same value as a 40 point test in the 1st quarter average. (Test Return Date: 9/27/19)

5. "Factoring Polynomials, Operations with Complex #'s" (9/27/19) -- Test topics include factoring polynomials using the GCF, DOTS, reverse FOIL, and grouping methods, simplifying radicals (including negative radicands), simplifying powers of i, and operating with complex numbers. (Test Return Date: 10/10/19)

6. "HW Completion" (9/16/19 - 9/27/19) -- See previous description of HW Completion.

7. "Solving Quadratic Equations" (10/10/19) -- Test topics include solving quadratic equations by factoring, graphing, completing the square, and using the quadratic formula. The test grade is given out of a total of 100 points, but the test's weight is only 0.5. Altogether, it is worth only as much as a 50 point assessment in the marking period's point total. 9. "Characteristics of Quadratic Equations" (10/24/19) -- Students must be able to (1) determine a quadratic equation's discriminant and be able to describe the equation's roots based on its value, (2) create a quadratic equation that corresponds to a given set of roots, (3) convert a quadratic equation from standard form to vertex form, (4) understand and use the shift associated with vertex form, (5) determine the sum/product of an equation's roots, and (6) solve 1-variable and 2-variable quadratic inequalities. 10. "HW Completion" (10/15/19 - 10/25/19) -- See previous description of HW Completion.

11. "Solving Polynomial Equations" (10/31/19) -- Students will (1) use graphs to approximate the solutions of polynomial equations, (2) determine exact solutions of polynomial equations algebraically, and (3) use regression to determine a polynomial equation that best fits a set of data. (Test Return Date: 11/6/19 or 11/7/19)
