Dear TWDL Families, 

We are all thrilled to welcome our newly joined little tigers and to see our returning students back on campus, energized and ready for learning! We understand that some students may need a bit of time to transition from “vacation mode” to the more rigorous pace of school, and our youngest learners may also need extra time to adjust to their new learning environment. Our teachers began their training and preparation the week before last, and we were excited to welcome students back. The first few days are always filled with mixed emotions—our younger ones may experience separation anxiety, while our older students sometimes struggle to get out of bed. These moments can be nerve-wracking for parents, too. It was touching to see a mother hold back tears as she left after calming her young child, and equally heartwarming to watch older students take younger siblings by the hand and walk them onto campus.Overall, the first three days of school have been a great success.

This year, our program continues to grow. We now have 14 classes : 3 TK classes, 2 classes per grade level from Kindergarten through 4th grade, and 1 class in 5th grade. While we are excited about this growth, we also said goodbye to some students. In conversations with most families who left, they shared that their departure was due to relocating—either out of state, out of the country, or back to their home attendance area to avoid a long commute. In addition to our newly enrolled TK and Kindergarten students, we are also delighted to welcome 6 new students joining our 1st grade and above classes. Last but not least, we also had 4 amazing new teachers join our TWDL Mandarin Team. 

我们非常高兴地欢迎新加入的小老虎们，并看到返校的同学们带着满满的能量回到校园，准备好投入学习！我们理解，有些学生可能需要一些时间，从“假期模式”过渡到更有节奏和要求更高的校园生活，而年纪更小的孩子也需要额外的时间来适应新的学习环境。

我们的老师们在开学前一周就开始了培训和准备工作，因此我们满怀期待地迎接学生们的到来。开学的头几天，年幼的学生可能会有分离焦虑，而年长的学生有时也会觉得早起很困难。这些时刻对家长来说同样是考验。看到一位母亲在安抚好小朋友后眼里噙着泪水离开，让人十分感动；而看到高年级的孩子牵着弟弟妹妹的手一起走进校园，又令人倍感温馨。总体来说，开学的前三天非常成功。

今年，我们的项目持续发展壮大。目前共有14个班级：3个学前过渡班（TK），幼儿园到四年级各有2个班，五年级1个班。虽然对项目的增长感到由衷高兴，但我们也与一些学生告别。根据与大多数离开的家庭的交流，他们离开的原因都是搬迁——有的是搬到州外，有的是搬到国外，还有一些是为了避免长途通勤而回到所在学区的指定学校。除了新入学的TK和幼儿园学生外，我们也非常高兴地欢迎6名新同学加入一年级及以上的班级。最后但同样重要的是，我们还迎来了4位优秀的新教师加入我们的TWDL中文教师团队。

2.TWDL Parent Committee Meeting & Parent Workshop｜家委会会议和家长工作坊

Our 1st TWDL parent committee meeting is scheduled on 8/27. Tony, our 5th grade parent lead will be leading our first committee meeting. Thank you, Tony!

Parent Committee Meeting and Workshop 

家长委员会和家长工作坊

TLDR: Please fill out this form to provide feedback on our parent committee meetings and workshops.

Parent involvement plays a pivotal role in fortifying our program and providing enhanced support for our students. Consistent parent workshops and parent committee meetings serve to maintain an open line of communication between the school and families. 

Parent committee assumes a critical role in discussing and addressing program-related matters collectively. A well-organized committee contributes to the advancement of our TWDL Mandarin program, enhancement of its quality, and better support for our students and families. Parent workshops are tailored for parents to learn about Chinese language and culture. Over the past years, the two meetings alternate every other month. This year, we will continue this schedule. Our Parent Committee meeting will kick off in August, followed by a parent workshop in september. As soon as all the dates are confirmed, we will share them with you.

Recognizing the importance of your input, both meetings are open to all parents associated with TWDL. We encourage parents to actively participate in these meetings, sharing your perspectives and offering constructive suggestions. Your engagement will greatly assist us in strengthening and refining our program.  For us to better arrange the meetings, Please take a few minutes to fill out this form by August 20, 2025.

持续而又连贯的家长工作坊和委员会有助于家长沟通，建立良好的合作关系，从而更有效地帮助我们的学生。去年这两个会议是每月交替进行的。今年我们会继续这个模式。我们将在八月份进行委员会会议，九月份开始家长工作坊。 一旦我们最终敲定日期，我们通知家长所有的会议时间。 

家长委员会在帮组我们联合家长的力量共同讨论我们中文项目的相关问题和建立良好的家校合作方面起到了至关重要的作用。一个运行良好的委员会会帮我们提升我们的项目，提高我们的教学质量，以及更好地支持我们的学生和家庭。一旦委员会成立，我们的会员会参加我们每两月一次的会议互相倾听家长们的心声，提出并商议建设性的建议来加强我们的项目。另外，该委员会没有名额限制，我们欢迎所有的家长参加。家长工作坊是给我们的家长提供学习中文语言和文化的机会。请您在百忙中抽出时间完成这份问卷以便让我们更好地了解您的需求，并安排会议。截止日期2025年8月20日。
