New Humble Community School is a public charter school located in Leduc County, Alberta. Our main goal is to educate our K-6 students through a lens of agriculture, environment and stewardship of the land. Staff at NHCS teach in a way that is hands-on and experiential learning. Teachers plan meaningful and engaging lessons for students by using the Alberta Program of Studies as well as a NHCS Charter developed agriculture curriculum. Students gain unique learning experiences as they frequently get to leave the "traditional" classroom and exchange it for one where they are in charge of their own learning. Our school is unique in the fact that we have an onsite farm where students apply, interview, and become hired for different roles on the school farm. Students are held responsible and accountable to do their jobs properly and thoroughly. Through the charter programming, students are exposed to life lessons that help build character like compassion, empathy, leadership, curiosity, optimism and teamwork. If you have any questions about our school, feel free to contact our school's principal, Halea Kohel at halea.kohel@newhumbleschool.ca

Students and staff paid their respects to the fallen soldiers by taking part of the Remembrance Day ceremony. The Grade 6 class took the lead to create the presentation and also led the ceremony. We always appreciate when guests take time out of their day to join us during such ceremonies. Lest we forget.
NHCS goes all out when it comes to dressing up in our very best! Students and staff all put a lot of effort into their costumes this year. The costume parade was a big success as were the classroom parties. We wish you all a safe and fun Halloween night!
Dr. Dana Sommers from Leduc Farm Animal Hospital stopped by NHCS to preg check this young cow provided by Tyler Wasieczko. Students asked incredible thought provoking questions to learn more about why ultra-sounding is a techniques used to determine pregnancies. A big thanks goes to Dr. Sommers, Tyler and Josh Huber for making this event happen!
On September 24th, we were very fortunate to welcome the Earth Rangers to our school for a presentation. We learned about animals who live in various habitats and even got to meet a couple of animals friends. Thank you Cargill for the sponsorship and bringing Earth Rangers to our school.
On September 27th, students took part in the Terry Fox Run and showed full dedication and support for the cause! Toonies were brought in to support cancer research. It was great to see all the students participating in the event as well as the families that showed up to support the cause as well.
