Synopsis - A potato plant's life cycle has 5 main stages: sprout development, vegetative growth, tuber initiation, tuber bulking & maturation. Our Grade 1 class learned about the potato plant life cycle and discussed what potato plants require in order to grow successfully in our school garden. We also brainstormed what potatoes could be used for and (with the help of Mr. Jeff) cooked up some home fries with our harvested potatoes and enjoyed them as a class. Additionally, we wrote and illustrated journal entries about the harvest and our field-trip to North Seed Potato Farm & completed a potato print Fall art project.
