New to Needham?

Welcome to the Needham community and, more specifically, Needham High School. As our mission states, NHS is a caring community striving for personal growth and academic excellence. We recognize that transitioning to a new school can be exciting and challenging. The Counseling Department looks forward to working with you to make this as smooth as possible.

Please review this New Student Welcome FAQ. We hope this answers many of your initial questions about joining the NHS community. Please reach out to your School Counselor as questions or concerns arise.  

Please note the following orientations for new grade 9 and new to Needham upperclassman on August 26, 2025

• 9th graders arrive at the A + B gyms (12:30-1:00) - Tour (1:00-1:45)
  -  End in auditorium for assembly (1:45-2:35)
  - 9th graders can leave @2:35

• N2N students meet N2N Ambassadors in the lobby (12:30-1:00) - Meet in teacher cafe (12:30-1:45) “New to Needham” Module, ice breakers, tour, meet N2N homeroom teachers
  -  N2N students can leave @1:45
