10th Grade
Grade 10
Now that you've had a chance to acclimate to high school, we encourage you to build on your skills and interests!
School Counselors meet with all 10th graders in Wellness classes to facilitate completion of a career interest inventory in Scoir, as well as start discussions about how this may influence post-secondary planning. We are also available to meet with sophomores individually on an as-needed basis, so feel free to reach out any time!
Here are some things to focus on in 10th grade:
Come prepared! Check out the summer work assignments link on our home page and make sure you have completed any necessary reading or coursework before classes start in the fall
Get serious about your academics! Think about challenging yourself appropriately in the subjects that interest you the most. Whether it is choosing to add more rigor to your course load, or working toward improving your performance in the levels you are already in, make sure you put forth your best effort.
Get in the habit of using the supports in the building! If you are struggling, go see your teachers during X block, and check out News From the Hill for information and schedules for peer tutoring, the math help center, the writing lab, and homework club!
Get involved, and/or stay involved! Whether it is a sports team, a club or one of our arts programming, we hope you'll get involved and find something fun to do. These are just a few ideas, but the options are endless! Ask around, and find something that interests you in the community. It doesn't matter what you do, as long as you do something!
Explore Career Interests: Counselors will show you where to complete the career assessment on SCOIR, but there are various career assessments you can try. Check these out!
Now is a good time to start your Community Service Hours: Check out the website for ideas on where to get started!
Your School Counselors are here for you every step of the way, so reach out any time with questions or concerns!
