Cambria County COVID Information

What is COVID?
As stated on the website John Hopkins Medicine,“Coronaviruses are a type of virus. There are many different kinds, and some cause disease. A coronavirus identified in 2019, SARS-CoV-2, has caused a pandemic of respiratory illness, called COVID-19.” COVID-19 is a rapid virus that has taken over the country and caused many deaths. Since this virus has struck, almost all states have been mandated to wear masks for our protection and others.
The effects of COVID-19 in Cambria County
Currently in Cambria County, there have been a total of 24,201 cases of COVID-19 reported as of September 27, 2021. The total number of deaths from that number is 594 as of December 17, 2021, with the weekly average of cases reported being 7.
What Cambria County is doing about COVID-19
Governor Tom Wolf has stated on the Official Pennsylvania Government website, “...state health care facilities and high-risk congregate care facilities will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by September 7, 2021.” All schools have the mask mandate in the state of Pennsylvania. With this, if a student is in contact with COVID-19 and they are vaccinated, they have to wear a mask for 14 days, and if not, they have to quarantine for that amount of time. Outdoor activities are to be socially distanced, and you don't have to wear a mask, but for indoor activities you are permitted to wear a mask. In certain restaurants and stores, it is now mandated to wear a mask.
