Drama is back and it's better than ever!

If I had one word to describe our Drama Club in the past two years of Northern Cambria, it would be “unlucky”. In the 2019-2020 school year, the club was just two months away from presenting their show, and they worked hard. We all know what happened next. The next year, an attempt was made to revive the club, but the fear and restrictions made it too difficult to continue. That brings us to the 2021-2022 school year. The club is going through some massive changes for the better, with a larger staff, a new show, and more students.

Now, who else would be better to take over the drama club than Northern Cambria’s biggest theater nerd, Mr. Jacobs. The Emanon decided that with all of these changes, and with a new director, we should give him an interview, so we students can figure out what’s happening.

Welcome your Drama Club Instructors!

  • Mr. Jacobs

  • Ms. Colonna

Interview With Mr. Jacobs and Miss. Colonna:

How do you feel about the current state of the play?

  • Mr. Jacobs: The cast and crew have been working hard for so many months, that I believe that the production is ready and needing an audience!! They are ready to entertain them!

How do you feel about the selection of students?

  • Mr. Jacobs: I was so fortunate to have found such talented students for this year's production! Most of the cast had never sung or performed on a stage before, but were willing to give it their all! And they have! They learned the music, the choreography and their own quirky characters. They are outstanding.

  • Ms. Colonna: The music for this year's show is difficult and the students have worked very hard to be able to sing it for the show. I can see how much work each student has put forth and I am proud of the work they have put into their performance and I am very confident they will have a terrific show!

Are you confident about your choice of the show this year?

  • Mr. Jacobs: The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is such a fun show!! I have done this show before and love it!! It's a small cast, one setting, and just a blast to watch! I knew that being the first Broadway Musical at the school, that 25th Putnam was the show to introduce our first endeavors.

What are your expectations for next year's students?

  • Mr. Jacobs: The thing that any show needs is dedication and commitment. There is so much work that goes into putting on a production that a lot of folks do not understand. It is just like sports. You gotta work hard, dedicate yourself to the cause, and believe in one another to have a "winning season". That is what I expect from anyone that would like to get involved in the drama department.

Have you started planning for next year, if so, what should we expect?

  • Mr. Jacobs: As for next year, I always have ideas that I would like to see produced. It will be another Broadway Musical, though! We can't stop now!!!
