On April 26, the Northern Cambria High School Marine Biology class is taking a trip to the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium. In the past two years, they haven’t been able to hold this trip due to the pandemic. This year though it finally has come. The students will be leaving at 7:30 a.m. and will get back to the high school at 3:15. The class will be put into groups of eight with a chaperone.
When they get there they will be given a group tour of the animals that are at the zoo. The main focus for Mrs. Kerr though is the animals at the Aquarium. Some of the marine mammals that are there are California Sea Lions, the River Otter, and Polar Bears. They also have Sea Turtles, Jellyfish, Eels, and Sharks. They also have North American Native Fishes, Temperate Ocean Animals, and Tropical Ocean Animals. On this trip, we will get to see all kinds of marine animals that we have been learning about all this year. That is definitely a great reward for a year of hard work and learning. We will also get to see all the other animals at the zoo like the Tigers and Red Pandas, two of my favorite animals.
It may be a day of learning and walking, but we get to see animals we don’t see every day, hopefully evoking our sense of imagination. It's great way to spend the day learning about the creatures that live alongside us every day even though we don’t notice it.
