What is a “Baccalaureate”?
A high school Baccalaureate is a service held in honor of the senior graduating class. The service is traditionally held around a few weeks before the graduation ceremony. Although a Baccalaureate is a religious ceremony, many high schools throughout the country still host this event and it has gained popularity over time. The event is a Christain-based service, but it has been traced back to a Catholic origin. The ceremony usually consists of a prayer, a dinner, and some fun games to play.
