“Relax, Recharge, and Lead with Purpose”

On Saturday, June 21, 2025, NC DKG Region 1 chapter presidents and representatives gathered in Wanchese, NC for a refreshing outing aboard on the Jodie Kae, a 42-foot charter boat captained by Marc Mitchum, husband of Delta Zeta’s Jodie Mitchum. 

The scenic cruise on the Roanoke Sound was more than a boat ride—it was an opportunity to unwind, reconnect, and strengthen relationships with fellow leaders. Along the cruise, members enjoyed sightings of Pelican Island, playful porpoises, soaring osprey, and a variety of coastal wildlife. Captain Marc even pulled in a crab pot which had one large trout and five crabs, sharing an impromptu lesson on crabs.

After a two-hour cruise, the boat docked at The Great Gut Deli, where members enjoyed a relaxing lunch with waterfront views and fellowship. After lunch, members returned to the Jodie Kae for a peaceful ride to the marina. 

Represented chapters included Alpha Omega (Melissa Dana), Beta Theta (Jordan Britt), Beta Upsilon (Robyn Lloyd), Delta Zeta (Jodie Mitchum), Gamma Lambda (Kelly Jones), Mu, (Delana Perry). Region 1 Director Phyllis Broughton and NC DKG Second Vice President Michelle Tuck-Thomas also participated in the outing.

This meaningful day on the Roanoke Sound provided an opportunity to Relax, Recharge, and return to their chapters to Lead with Purpose.
