Class: Paralytic Neuromuscular blocker, DE-polarizing
Action: Competes with the acetylcholine receptor of the motor end plate on the muscle cell, resulting in muscle paralysis.
Indications: To induce neuromuscular blockade for the facilitation of advanced airway / ET tube placement.
Adverse Effects: Respiratory depression, apnea, bronchospasm, cardiac arrhythmias, malignant hyperthermia, hypertension, hypotension, muscle fasciculations.
Contraindications: Malignant hyperthermia, major burns, trauma. Use with caution in children, cardiac disease, hepatic disease, renal disease, peptic ulcers, cholinesterase-inhibitor toxicity, pseudocholinesterase deficiency, digitalis toxicity, glaucoma, hyperkalemia, hypothermia, rhabdomyolysis, myasthenia gravis.
Special Considerations: Pregnancy Class C
Dosages:
***ONSET in 30 seconds to 1 min - duration 2-3 minutes***

1-1.5mg/kg IV/IO
