• Class: Nitrates, anginal, vasodilator,

• Action: stimulates cGMP production resulting in smooth muscle relaxation.

• Indications: Angina

• Adverse Effects: hypotension, syncope, headache, dizziness, flushing.

• Contraindications: known allergy to the drug, severe anemia, circulatory collapse, shock, hypotension,

• Special Considerations: Use with caution in Pregnancy

Dosages:

Adult:

• 0.4mg (1 tablet) SL q 5 minutes (MAX 3 doses)

Nitroglycerin Paste-2%: Per COG if Nitro relieves chest pain

• 1" of paste to anterior chest wall

• If at any time the patient becomes hypotensive, remove the paste.

Pediatrics:

• NOT currently recommended in children
