Day of the Dead Figurines

Students made Day of the Dead inspired figurines using wire, paper-mache, clay, fabric and paint. We usually do a Day of the Dead project every year in the fall. This project is similar to past figurines we have done with the exception of adding fabric this year. Students had a variety of fabric designs and colors to choose from to create outfits for their sculptures.

The sculpture began with wire pieces that were taped together and then paper-mached to give the sculpture some volume. We then used air dry clay for the head, hands and any other exposed areas. The fabric was then added and put together using hot glue. Students then painted facial details.
