Linoleum Prints
Most people associate linoleum with flooring, but it has been used an art material for many years. Artist carve into pieces of linoleum with special linoleum cutters. Students were given a piece of linoleum to work with and two sizes of cutters. They drew an animal image and then carved out the design creating textures. Black ink is then rolled over the piece of linoleum and then paper is placed on top and pressed or burnished creating a print. Multiple prints can be mad from the same piece of linoleum.Â
