Adding Assignments
PowerTeacher Pro (Gradebook) can be accessed by clicking on the PowerTeacher Pro link below each Class name.
To add a new Assignment click on the + button at the top right corner of the screen and select Assignment.
There are 5 required fields (shown to the left):
Select Classes- (1 or more) to assign to.
*Elementary specials teachers- please note that you can only select classes for one grade-level at a time (i.e. select all 4th grade classses only). If more than one grade is selected for the assignment, standards will not populate correctly.
New Assignment Name- Type in the assignment name
Select a category-
Homework or Assessment should be selected
Participation and School Business will not count towards overall final grades
Due date - Enter a due date for the assignment
Score Entry Points- Assign a point value to the assignment (Points are used by default, you can change this using the selector for Score Type).
If the assignment is only intended for a some but not all students within the classes selected, you can use the Students tab to select (check) specific students.
Use the Standards tab to select the standards aligned to the assignment.
Be sure to click on the Auto-Calculate Assignment Standards Scores. This is key to making sure that the assignment scores correctly "push" to the standards grade.
Select the standards aligned to the assignment.
You can check to make sure that scores have correctly pushed to standards grades by going to the individual assignment and verifying that the standards column has been auto-filled with numberical values 1-4 based on the traditional score entered.
Save and Close- Be sure to click Save and Close in the once you have finished creating the assignment.
