THE PLAYGROUND

Happiness… Finding play in adult life and connecting to our inner child.

Play is something we discover as children, and it has a profound impact on our mental state and wellbeing. As we grow up, freeform play is often discouraged for adults. My goal is to create a space where adults feel comfortable to play, feel joy, and connect to things that make them happy.

People like play, and it's not just for kids. My space caters to young adults, to show them that play is not something you give up as you grow up, but something that has value in your life no matter the age.

THE NIGHTCLUB

The Nightclub is informed by the idea of a playground. Its primary intent is to promote active play, fun, and joy.

Micro atmospheres are created throughout the design that allows for different levels of activity and types of play. The flooring, ceiling, and walls are dark, and colours vividly stand out against the backdrop. The finishes alternate in colour, and the lighting mimics these colourful finishes to give the design a high-energy, dynamic feeling.

THE RESTAURANT + GAME CAFE

The Restaurant and Game Café continues to connect to the concept of play and happiness. The design is brighter, and natural light filters into the space; it is both cheerful and exploratory.

The main level Restaurant provides multiple Lego stations, and Lego boards are used as wall finishes. As the Restaurant is used, it naturally evolves as people build Lego in the space. On the second floor Game Café, board games are the primary activity, but you can also play some pinball, or grab some coffee and hang out!
