The Nest

The feeling of connection and support washes over the people who step into this wholesome space. While everyone has different daily experiences, they know that all through their adventures they will have protection and a constant support system to fall back on while navigating through their mental health journey.

Protect/ Support/ Connect

The goal was to design a space to give young adults ages 18-25 a place to come while dealing with anxiety and depression without the stigma attached. The Nest will offer a variety of different therapies, such as Art Therapy, Meditation & Yoga. Therapists will collaborate with the goal of creating a community and a safe space for individuals, as well as helping individuals reach their full potential.

1st Floor

Semi-Private Pods

These pods allow people to sit alone, with a friend, or sit with a therapist and relax. While sitting in the pods, individuals have a view of the space as well as natural light with their backs covered, which encourages them to feel comfortable.

Pods & Sitting Nook Under the Stairs

Café

The Café is central within the space. It gives people opportunity to access it no matter where they are in the space. The stair seating can act as a place to sit while waiting for food and drinks. Healthy food and drinks will be sold, as nutritional health goes hand in hand with mental health.

1st Floor Communal Area

This space gives people opportunities to meet others and have conversation. The benches built into the planters, and the seating integrated into the staircase enable casual and central seating which allow people to make connections.

Group Semi-Private Lounge

The group space gives opportunity to have semi-private conversations in a group setting. The biophilic elements such as the organic forms and plants allow people to feel at ease.

Makers Studio

This space is primarily used for Art Therapy. The flexibility of the space allows workshops to happen where people can learn new skills, such as playing an instrument, pottery, or knitting. The goal is to help people find new passions.
