Background

Adult ADHD

Attention Deficit Hyper-Activity Disorder (ADHD) is a debilitating mental disorder that affects 5% of the population. It was previously thought to be a childhood disorder, however, it is a lifelong disorder that has sever implications for adults as well. ADHD is typically treated with medication; however therapeutic methods have proven to be very effective at helping people cope and manage their ADHD symptoms. Due to the misconception about ADHD in adults, these resources are very limited.

About

Overcoming obstacles imposed by ADHD is a difficult task to navigate. Like any type of personal-growth, the individual has todo the work, no one can do it for them. The challenge is, it can be difficult to do the work needed to move forward when what you are trying to change is what is also holding you back. To a ship, lighthouses serve as a lifesaving force. They warn boats of dangerous territory and in bad weather, they help navigate through volatile conditions. They are a stable element on solid ground that can see what a ship cannot see when they are in the thick of the storm. In that moment, the beacon is the only sense of certainty. The Pharos ADHD Wellness Studio serves as a beacon to help members navigate their way out of the storm –or uncertainty and negativity of living with ADHD. Pharos provides a place that people can trust and feel safe. It is a space that illuminates the path out of the turbulence and into peace by helping the individual regain control.

Objectives

Pharos is about fostering a goal-oriented wellness community where people with ADHD feel supported and recognized. In this community, people with ADHD will find the tools they need to achieve their personal goals and connect with others in the community. The resulting impact will radiate from the individual to society. Individuals with ADHD will be empowered while the awareness and stigma's surrounding ADHD itself will be better understood.

Concept

The evolution of vulnerability to strength and resilience through a symbiotic rhythm between control and influence.
