Homi Apartments and Urban Social work together to provide young adults and students with a supportive envrionment that offers opportunities for learning and growth as this demographic transitions into indepedency
Urban Social
Urban Social is a pay-what-you-have cafe + eatery and works to provide the public with home made meals, fresh ingredients, and convenience items at a recommended price. By doing so, customers have the option to pay more for the services they're receiving as a donation or if they are in a dire situation, pay what they can.

This plan generously gives space to the dining and gathering areas and are the first places you see when you enter from the main corner entrance, this is to hint towards the community and its importance to ths establishment.
Urban Social is organized and divided to provide spaces for lounge, casual dining and individual work and study. As well as zones for a large communal kitchen for staff and volunteers, a conveience corner, and a private entrance for the residents living above in Homi Apartments.
Urban Social RCP + Lighting
Urban Social provides many different areas for enjoyment. Casual dining spaces are illuminated with ambient, warm lighting to envoke a sense of comfort and welcomness to the user. Other spaces including the quiet and indiviudal study and work space uses task lighting to promote productivity.
Various ceiling heights are also used throughout the space to separate zones and allow the space to flow seamlessly.

Homi Apartments
Homi apartments are a supportive housing solution for young adults and students seeking indepence. The facility provideds potential residents with a bachelor style suite at a reduced size to help lower rent rates and provides each user with their basic needs. Including a place to sleep, a living space, a washroom, and small kitchentte. Other necessary amentities are offered in a central community area including a communal kitchen, a community lounge space, and a launry facility.

Entry to this space is through the staircase or elevator directly from the lobby downstairs. The stair are closed in using a 1 hr fire rated wall and door to ensure the space is safe and follows the protocols of the National Fire Code in Alberta.
From the entrance, users are directly trensported to the central hub where community amenities are positioned. The largest space is reserved for the community kitchen and lounge space. Open to each other, these spaces flow well and provide great opportunities for social interaction. Such a space is also ideal for events including game nights, community dinners, and even hosted events such as community cooking classes to encourage residents to learn more about the skills they will obtain as a new independent.
Behind the open space, residents then have access to a laundry facility with plenty of space to make sure your weekly laundry needs are met.
Surrounding it all are 9 units including a Barrier Free corner unit. Each space sits along the exterior of the building and is promised to have large windows that look out into the city and surrounding areas. Surrouding the central community hub, the aparments create their own community circle that encourages residents to walk around and enjoy as their own home.
