Intro & Background
This project is inspired by my experiences in Alberta's Ukrainian community. I have been involved in Ukrainian dance since I was 7 years old and performed with my family's Ukrainian folk band - the Polka Ramblers - from ages 4 to 20. I have always been so proud of my Ukrainian heritage and was thrilled to have the opportunity to explore the culture further through this project. I have chosen to name my project after the current president of Ukraine.

Concept
The concept for this project is drawn from my love and appreciation for Ukrainian arts and culture including music, food, embroidery, and of course dance and the beautiful costumes. I am also inspired by my family and friends, and the traditions that we continue to embrace.
Main Floor
Main Floor Plan
The event space encompasses the entirety of the main floor. At the main entry, easy access to the second level is provided with the stairs and elevator. This area also features a banquette with small tables, and lounge seating groupings for people to gather away from the excitement of the proper event space.
Past the stairs and the centrally located bar is the vibrant event space. This area includes seating options such as traditional banquet style tables as well as cocktail tables and lounge seating. The stage and dance floor are located here, emphasizing the purpose of this space as one for celebration and togetherness.
The material palette of this floor includes colourful patterns and creates a vibrant atmosphere. A feature wall brings the national flower of Ukraine, the sunflower, into the space.

Second Floor
The stairs and elevator lead directly into the art gallery. Displayed in this space are different art forms including paintings, decorative objects, and clothing and embroidered items. The circulatory elements provide a direct link from the event space into the gallery, encouraging individuals to visit both spaces. A reception area located at the edge of the gallery serves both the classrooms and the dance studio.
The classrooms are separated by a removeable divider and provide space for learning the language and various art forms. The dance studio space is separated from the rest of the second floor and includes two studios, changerooms, costume storage, offices, a meeting room, and a lounge for dancers, parents, and instructors.
Subduing the material palette used on this floor draws more attention to the arts.
