Project Background & Goals
Located along 17th avenue and 33rd street, Mother N a/ur ture’s Wellness Centre was created for the purpose of providing women with a retreat-like centre where one can focus on their mental and physical health. In today’s day and age, women are much more likely to become insecure as social media plays an immense role in making women feel less worthy. Many of us get too caught up with our daily lives and forget to prioritize our health and happiness - which is where Mother N a/ur ture’s Wellness Centre comes into play. Also located within the building is the Mother N a/ur ture’s Market and At Ease Bistro. The market is where organic foods, natural skincare, vitamins, and home goods will be available for public users who are in search of natural and sustainable items. Meanwhile, At Ease Bistro reflects a comfortable and lively setting as users are immersed within the biophilic design.
Behind the Name: Why Mother N a/ur ture?
Mother Nature is what nurtures us and provides our world with natural beauty. Natural aspects and biophilia grounds us and connects us to a sense of calm while living within such a hectic world. It is what remains a constant within our busy schedules and the built environment, it gives us a sense of place - a sense of truth. Nurture allows us to grow as Mother Nature provides us with a wealth of natural foods and resources. She spoils us, and yet, with so much natural beauty that surrounds us and plentiful nutrition, why do we still find ourselves reaching for something less worthy? Mother Nature provides us with all of the tools and basics on how we can live out our healthiest lives and become the best versions of ourselves. Just like Mother N a/ur ture, it will provide users with natural and nurturing elements that enables us to become the healthiest we can be which results in inner empowerment and confidence.

The Concept: Driven by nature through curved form and natural materials evokes a calm and comforting atmosphere in which contrasts with linear plane and curated amenities that nurtures one's wellbeing, forming Mother N a/ur ture.

When users enter the Mother N a/ur ture's market, they are immersed within a light and airy interior that creates a grounding environment. At Ease bistro yields a lively and bespoke atmosphere as it connects to nature and enables users to feel comfortable and at ease. A contrast of curved and linear plane is evident throughout the entire space as it reflects a bespoke, yet a biophilic-inspired experience.
Overall, users will feel grounded as they meander through the main floor of the market as they purchase organic foods, vitamins, natural skincare, and home goods. Within the At Ease bistro, users may find themselves sitting at the bar socializing or experiencing a more secluded atmosphere at the lounge (located behind the glass facade).

As users walk up the stairs or take the elevator from the lobby, they enter Mother N a/ur ture’s wellness centre which is dedicated to impacting women’s health and wellbeing in positive ways through biophilic elements and curated amenities. Just off the stairs is a seating area where users can connect and interact with each other while being immersed within a natural setting. To the left, the gym provides a changeroom, meditative area, and spin class which offers users many amenities to choose from. Located at the top right is the spa which includes another changeroom, sauna, and multiple massage rooms for users who want to leave feeling rejuvenated and relaxed. The bottom right reveals the workshop area where users may sign up for classes hosted by third parties to learn about numerous aspects on how to positively impact one’s well being. Third parties are also able to rent out the market, gym, and meditative space if they wish to provide a more interactive experience for the offered workshop classes such as learning about nutrition, self defense, building confidence, feeling empowered, and so on.
The Mother N a/ur ture material board renders neutral colours (also found within the rest of the building area) as it grounds and calms users. Natural light oak wood and wood reeding is found throughout the wellness centre as it too connects to natural elements and biophilia.

Summary: The Mother N a/ur ture's wellness centre provides women with an interior that focuses on impacting one’s health and wellbeing through nature and nurturing ways. The nature-driven space allows users to feel calm and grounded while the curated amenities provide users with nurturing means by focusing on their mental and physical health. Women will leave the building feeling confident, empowered, and on a journey of becoming the best version of themselves.
