Mount Aloysius College has network multifunction printers throughout campus. Whenever possible you are encouraged to print color pages in grayscale. Also if you print PowerPoint slides please print multiple slides per page as a way to conserve paper and ink as well as other printer resources.
All prints and copies to network printers will be monitored and counted. Each semester every student will be allotted 800 print credits. This allotment will be reset every semester in which you are enrolled and will not roll over semester to semester. During the semester if your total number of pages reaches 100 credits then you will receive a warning notification via your Mount email. This warning is to inform you that you are approaching your allotted credit maximum. When you reach the 800 print credit limit, all printing services will be automatically disabled. If you need to print additional pages you must purchase additional pages from the Business Office. These additional credits can be purchased in the business office for $15.00. You will then receive instructions for adding an additional 800 credits to your account.
Below are examples of what can be printed for 800 print credits:
800 Black & white single sided pages
OR
400 black & white double sided pages
OR
200 color singled sided pages
OR
100 color double sided pages

There are many different laptop manufacturers and models to select from and it can be a confusing endeavor. Students have different needs and budgets, so we recommend the laptop to have what we consider "minimum" specs. Preferred brands that work well at the Mount include HP, Asus, Lenovo, or Acer, but there are many others that make a decent laptop. We recommend staying away from Chromebooks. Although Chromebooks are decent budget options, if you need to install certain software for class, you may run into issues. MacBooks are supported, and many of our students use them, you will just be paying a bit more for one of those.
Students can receive a discount on their desktop or laptop purchase. You can see more details on the MyMAC site under “Discount Software” and “Free MS Office 365."
