The following activities explored culture through food and restaurants. These activities encourage students to make comparisons to what they know and what they are discovering, then reflecting on how the language and culture are interacting.
Students will consider how familiar fast food companies are responsive to local cultures and audiences in different ways
Students will consider different kinds of foods and the different kinds of restaurants that offer these foods.
1) Students explore stereotypes of 10 restaurants around Kansas City either in person or online and discuss in small groups
2) Exploring what questions we can ask about unfamiliar foods to different people around us when at a restaurant. Then role play as a group.
