My research proposal was to investigate the effects of coded feedback vs explicit corrective feedback for novice Japanese language learners used in group writing activities. Because I took this course in the summer I did not complete the the project beyond the research proposal. However, I have used the coded feedback method in my classes since this project. I highlight in correct vocabulary or "spelling", change the color of incorrect particles, and use icons for missing words. My students have responded quite well to this method and I will keep this as part of my practice.
