Crossroads is a living/working 1800's village. We try to use plantings that reflect that period, as well as other perennial and annuals to provide interest to the many visitors who visit throughout the season. There are 12 individual garden areas which are maintained by EMG’s offering both sun and shade. We have an heirloom vegetable garden, gooseberry bushes, and other vintage plants. We have also met the criteria to become a Monarch Waystation, and have been excited to see the monarchs returning each year. The park is closed to the public on Tuesdays, which is when we do most of our gardening. There are buses of children who may come on our work day. There are also Outreach opportunities available, depending on the park scheduling. When you have completed 40 volunteer hours, the park will issue 4 free tickets, allowing entrance to the park, a ride on the Huckleberry, and ticket to board the 'Belle", a vintage paddleboat! The annual association picnic is held at Crossroads in July and is for all trainees and EMGs and their families. Crossroads volunteers go through the Genesee County Parks background checks and liability waivers.
