This project was started about 15 years ago. The park is a certified Monarch Way Station and has received beautification awards from the State of Michigan. A few of the plants include: Butterfly Milkweed, Whorled Milkweed, Common Milkweed, Missouri Iron weed, Echinacea, Coreopsis, Bee Balm, Daisies, and Zinnias.
The educational components of the park include signs explaining migration routes and facts about the monarch butterfly. This site is used for Outreach events and is part of the annual "fairy" walk through the woods. Master Gardeners engage in activities with the children.
