This story was written to answer the controversial question: What really is the best place to spend lunch? Some people think it might be the gym to play basketball, the courtyard to sit on a bench and enjoy the fresh air, the cafeteria to eat, or the quiet room to play a game or do homework. Everyone has different answers. We interviewed 50 447 students to figure out what our student body truly thinks. 

LEAP, also known as Learning through an Expanded Arts Program, is MS 447’s free after-school program along with many other elementary and middle schools throughout New York City. At 447, LEAP takes place after-school from 2:50 to 5:30 with 245 students enrolled. LEAP offers much-needed time to work on homework and socialize with friends.

Since 1914, airlines have been operating airplanes to transport passengers. But there are lots of problems with them like delays which happen to twenty five percent of flights, and the average delay time being one hour! Food wait times are also very long, with airline meals which average at 8 to 15 dollars per meal which is crazy because the food is very bad.

Not all superheros wear capes... but they do carry microphones, pens, and paper. These superheroes put themselves in danger to educate the world about the atrocities occurring as we go about our daily lives. While New Yorkers ride the subway, buy overpriced smoothies, and live in the comfort of our own city, reporters across the world put themselves in jeopardy to call for help.  

What is the best soccer league? From the VAR to the Signings, there must be one. But how can you judge a league? I thought of three things to judge the teams. Player and Team level or how good the average player and team is, the Referees and how good or bad (Mostly bad) decisions they make, and the excitement of each game.

There are hundreds of crazy, delicious, and sugary donut flavors. From more simple chocolate frosted donuts to more complex donuts like red velvet donuts. But the question is which doughnut flavor is the best? We decided to test this out. We went to Dunkin Donuts and ranked them from 1 to 10 to find out which one was the best.

The Super Bowl is known by many to be the most exciting sports event in the world. Amid all the excitement and pre-game talks, there was one thing that the major sports channels were excited about: Taylor Swift?! Let me be honest.  I’m pretty sure that before the game, the camera pointed more toward Taylor Swift rather than a lot of the actual players for te 49ers and Chiefs respectively.

When you get into the store, you realize that you waited all this time for a giant pink and red cup?! The Stanley Cup Craze has brought teenagers and millennials together in their hunger for collecting these cups, all thanks to TikTok.

Make a mistake? ‘But I’m just a girl!’ Lose in a video game? “But I’m just a girl!” Run a red light? “But I'm just a girl!” Gaining more prominence than the terms “Girl Dinner” and “Girl Math,” from teenage friend groups to internet sensations, ‘I’m just a girl’ is the new justification for any error a girl makes. But how did this come about?  

Imagine that you’re already busy with homework, getting back into the school year, busy with everything - and now you have to add more to the already tight schedule. You have to write two different essays for two different schools, prepare for the SHSAT and TACHS exams, and any other tests you might be doing for certain schools. That’s a lot on your plate. On top of that, you also need to keep your grades up.

Two new movies recently released in theaters are big hits - Migration, and Wonka. These two movies have seen numerous crowds, and there is a small debate about whether Migration or Wonka is better. To see which film is better, we can look at which earned more revenue at the box office, and check ratings and reviews from critics and the audience.

“You're so skibidi!” You’ve probably been called Skibidi before, or maybe even called someone else Skibidi before, but do you really know where it comes from and what it means? While no one can agree on what “being Skibidi” is, the phrase Skibidi comes from the song “Skibidi Bop Yes Yes” by Aesthetic from the YouTube series Skibidi Toilet which started on February 7, 2023, and has since gained over 65 billion views. 

Whoever is reading this either agrees with me that vanilla is the best ice cream flavor, or disagrees. If you disagree with me, I will prove that you should reconsider your approach to vanilla. Vanilla ice cream is easily the most goated ice cream flavor ever; no strawberry, no cookies and cream, not even chocolate. Everyone should agree that Vanilla is the best.

 So much has changed in the past few years. Trends have gone in and out. Oat milk has become all the rage. But the biggest thing that happened is that we went from never leaving our rooms to standing in subway cars that are too crowded to breathe. That feels like forever ago... 

Last summer, two long awaited and exciting movies, both released on the same day, both had an impact on our modern movie culture, and have caused quite a stir of controversy. What movies? Barbie and Oppenheimer. Two polar opposites, one about fashion and relationships and one about the nuclear bomb. As you can see, opposites attract and the fandoms of both were clashing, debating which ones were better. Both movies had their moments, and succeeded in different ways...

On June 16th, 2023, the movie Elemental was released, with many people rushing to their nearest movie theaters to see this new film. Expectations were very high, especially because of the high turnout for the movie, and the movie financially, was a huge success. CNN stated, “The animated love story is bearing down on $150 million in the US, meaning it will have earned five times its opening-weekend total – a multiple no Pixar movie has achieved since the original ‘Toy Story.’”

On September 22, 2023, New York City mayor Eric Adams introduced several of a new age of policing-AI driven security robots. Some resemble and mimic dogs, scouting the streets of the city. Others work between 12-6 AM, in the Times Square subway station. These are noted to resemble R2-D2, but unbeknownst to most, they also resemble another sci-fi creature used as a security robot. The most ruthless killers in all of time and space. Yes, Doctor Who fans, I am referring to the Daleks... 

 Being a conscious member of today's society comes with acknowledging and embracing others and their identities, which include cultural identities such as language, religion, and/or ethnicity. But there’s a complicated divider between appreciation and appropriation, the line which informs someone if it’s okay to wear clothing from another culture without it coming off as offensive...

During school, do you ever suddenly feel hungry? After school, it's great to hang out, but once you need something to eat, it’s hard to decide where to go to eat your favorite foods. So to solve those hungry thoughts, we went to places to get something to eat after school. Homophobia.  Its definition is commonly known, or at least a basic handle of the concept.  But is it truly understood how much it has infiltrated our daily life, or how the subtext of homophobia can be seen in the simplest things?

On Wednesday, January 6, Trump supporters stormed the capitol. It was a destructive sight, and a woman died in the chaos. The pro-trump rioters claimed election fraud and denied democracy, which unfortunately led to a disagreement that left an unsettling feeling to viewers who wondered how such a thing could happen. During the chaos, some rioters got through all security and entered the capitol building with Capitol police showing little to no offense. For others on the way, protective barriers used to hold rioters back were nothing but a brief delay as they quickly got past them. Armed with metal bars and even tear gas, gaining access to the Capitol was no longer a dream, but a reality. A reality that wouldn’t be possible without the weak response of the Capitol police.

22-year old Amanda Gorman made history on January 20, 2021, by being the youngest poet to recite at a presidential inauguration in American history. Her inaugural poem, “The Hill We Climb” was heard by millions of people all across the country at the inauguration of  President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. Her poem and voice touched the hearts of people across the country giving many people hope for a better future.

There is a lot of debate on whether voting age should be lowered to 16 or not. I don't think it should and here are some of my reasons.
