Homeslice Review

By Milo Schwartz, Alan Wang, and Will Duffy

As recently as two years ago, the food-desolate area around MS 447 made it pretty hard to get ahold of the iconic New York City slice of pizza. Then, the food gods blessed all of us pizza-loving students with…Homeslice! This small yet incredible place on 4th Avenue between Pacific and Dean Streets is the epicenter of the pizza craze of MS 447. But is this beloved pizza joint really worth all the hype? We decided to find out.

Over the course of a month, we visited Homeslice three separate times to ensure that we got the most accurate angle of the establishment. Each time, we all got cheese slices and a drink. When we first walked in, we immediately noticed the relaxed vibe. There were tables and chairs set up on the left side of the store, and a counter displaying all of the cool kinds of pizza. They had a strong variety of toppings, such as vodka, pepperoni (with a beef option), Sicilian, and even the controversial Hawaiian pizza!

Also, we found the staff at Homeslice enthusiastic and helpful. Calla Wetstone from 802 agrees, saying, “I love Homeslice! Their service is really nice and fast. They are always kind as well.”

Their pricing is also pretty affordable for middle school students. A normal slice of pizza costs $2.75, but they have a deal where you can buy two slices for just $5.00. The other various items, such as garlic knots and drinks, are also cheap.

On top of this, the pizza itself is great! It was crispy, cheesy, and had a great flavor. As Calla stated once again, “The pizza is always hot when it comes out as well. Compared to other places, it is really good!”

If you want a more deep dive into the quality of the pizza, it truly is phenomenal. Read on to get a ‘SLICE’ of the action. We all got plain cheese slices.  Alan and Will put parmesan on their pizza. Will thought it was pretty hot when it came out, but it ended up being very cheesy and good.

Will also liked their selection of drinks, and he said his Zero Sugar Snapple Lemon Tea “certainly had no sugar in it!”

Alan ate his pizza very quickly, and decided to put a load of parmesan cheese on it. Alan exclaimed “It was actually really good. It was nice, hot, cheesy, crunchy, and crispy, and I would definitely come back for more.”

Milo liked his two slices–and ate it with a knife and fork– and as he very profoundly stated, “it was great.”

To end this whole wonderful experience, we all had a really good time in Homeslice, and so do the other students in MS447. The service there is amazing, the seating is nice, and the pizza is so hot and delectable. It makes a lot of sense why this pizza shop is the best place to hang out with your friends, and also get a snack on the side.
