Year 9 Beyond the Classroom

Why is learning beyond the classroom important?

At Mount Erin College we aim to ensure that the Year 9 experience is one in which the passions of students are an integral part of their learning. It is very important at this stage of life that students develop a clear sense of community by participating in opportunities provided for them inside and outside of the school.

City Week

Students learn a greater appreciation of the world they live in by participating in City Week. Students travel to and from Melbourne and increase their understanding of Melbourne and how it impacts on them.

Village Baxter

There are a number of fantastic opportunities that Year 9 students have to participate with residents of Village Baxter. These opportunities provide valuable relationship building opportunities for both Village Baxter residents and Year 9 students. This is one of the highlights of the year for many students.

My Career Insights

Students will complete the on-line Morrisby Career assessment and receive a comprehensive Morrisby profile report.

Each student will have a one-one interview with a trained Morrisby Careers advisor. Students will also develop their Career Action Plan and set up an e-Portfolio for their important career-related documents and awards.

First Aid

All Year 9 students have the opportunity to complete basic first aid training that will allow them to participate in community based activities using their learnt First Aid skills.

Student Leadership Opportunities

There are a large number of opportunities that present themselves throughout the year from competitions to public speaking such as the Lions Youth of the Year awards.
