For the love of food

Contribution: $65

Students will undertake practical sessions, expand their culinary techniques in the kitchen and explore how food changes when it is cooked. They will discover how different ingredients are used in recipes, where foods come from and how they are grown and processed. 

Students will explore the impact growing and making food has on the environment and changes that may need to be made in order to feed the world's growing population. This includes examining alternative food sources and advances in food technology to produce more food. Students will also consider the affects of food waste, including food insecurity within communites and the impacts this has on lifestyle choices.

Woodwork

Contribution: $75

Woodwork is an area of learning in which students gain knowledge to develop skills through designing, using appropriate tools, machines, mechanisms and resources to produce practical results. This course is designed to enable students to acquire a variety of hand skills, design considerations/constraints and safe working habits. This is achieved through the design and construction of projects encompassing necessary processes, various hand tools and materials. This subject is preparation for further studies in woodwork and VCE Product Design & Technology (Wood) and provides students with an introduction to skills that would be required in the various wood trades, such as carpentry, cabinet making, building and construction, etc.
