振奋人心,感动全场 is the motto that we uphold. In RVCO, you will be able to indulge in melodious music during practices and perform music pieces that can touch the hearts of the audiences. In our journey leading up to SYF, we also hope that our members can practice values like perseverance, foster strong bonds among our members, and build a close-knit RVCO family.

RVCO's 2024 VIA encompasses of going down to NTUC Health Active Ageing Centres to spread joy to seniors through our activities. This includes allowing them to enjoy our music, and have fun trying out the different CO instruments, whilst guided by us!

Conducted by our Head Conductor Mr Goh during the End of Year Holidays, this hands-on session will cover baton techniques, score interpretation, and leadership in you own sections. Attendees of the workshop have also been given a chance to lead the orchestra during dazu!

Enjoy performing in School Events such as Chinese New Year, Mid-Autumn Festival, and the Annual School Performing Arts Concert, ReVerie!
We perform a mix of pop songs (including student-arranged pieces, find out more under Music Arrangement Workshop!), and CO Pieces such as pieces from 太阳颂, Ode to The Sun, a majestic series of 4 movements that sounds equally majestic and graceful, and also 展望, Aspirations, an upbeat and inspirational piece composed by famous local composer Wang Chenwei!
Head Conductor
Mr Shunta Goh is a multi-award-winning Singaporean Erhu musician and conductor. He started learning the Erhu at the age of 9 under the tutelage of renowned Erhu master Mr. Zhang Yu Ming. He is currently a Zhong Hu musician in Singapore Chinese Orchestra.
A recipient of the prestigious National Arts Council Arts Scholarship (Undergraduate), Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) Scholarship and Ngee Ann Kongsi Arts Scholarship, Mr Goh graduated with First Class Honors from the Royal College of Music - Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Bachelor of Music programme in 2015. He was also awarded the Best Graduate Award (Music) during his Diploma in Music programme at NAFA.
In 2017, he was awarded the prestigious National Arts Council Arts Scholarship (Postgraduate) to pursue a Master of Music degree majoring in orchestral conducting at the China Conservatory of Music in Beijing, under the tutelage of Professor Ye Jin, graduating with top honors in July 2020. During the course of his conducting education and career, Mr Goh has had the privilege of receiving tutelage from world-renowned conductors such as Maestro Tsung Yeh, Ye Jin, Lim Yau, Darrell Ang, Alexander Polishchuk, XinCao Li, Viktor Akulovich, and YongYan Hu.
Mr Goh has previously held the position of conductor of the Tsinghua University Traditional Orchestra, Beijing University of Science and Technology Traditional Chamber Orchestra, China Youth Traditional Orchestra, and the China International Youth Chamber Orchestra. He currently serves as the conductor of River Valley High School Chinese Orchestra, Elias Park Primary School Chinese Orchestra, and Pei Chun Public School Chinese Orchestra.
Mr Goh considers it his calling to share his knowledge and passion towards nurturing and inspiring the next generation of music enthusiasts, and to develop the classical Chinese music scene in Singapore.
Assistant Conductor
As a professional Dizi player and conductor, Mr Tong Wei Jie assists Mr Goh during our combined sessions. He enjoys sharing his knowledge in playing music and hopes to bring joy in learning music to his students.
With Mr Tong around in RVCO, it is guaranteed that you will have opportunities to learn other skills. For instance, during the December holidays last year, some of our members attended the music rearrangement workshop ran by Mr Tong himself, and rearranged the CNY medley piece that we performed this January.
Together with his many external Chinese Orchestra performances and accomplishments, Mr Tong is also well-versed in video-editing, music production and many more.

In RV, we have the privilege to have our very own CO Room! The CO Room is located at Block A, next to the Good News Cafe, Band Room and the Auditorium.
Combined Rehearsals will be held there, whilst sectionals will be held at classrooms.
No it is not! Our school does provide instruments for students to loan and bring them home, however, if do find a passion for your instrument and want to have one of your own, feel free to purchase one!

RVCO has a myriad of opportunities for members, such as internal and external performance opportuities, VIA opportunities to give back to the community, as well and many chances to develop our leadership skills!
