Netball is an exciting, fast and skillful game of fair contest. The game is played in two teams of seven, with the main aim of bringing the ball down the court and shooting it into the goal. Each game consists of 4 quarters of 15 minutes each. At the end of the 4 quarters, the team with the most points wins.
There are 7 specific positions given to each player -- Goal Shooter, Goal Attack, Wing Attack, Centre, Wing Defence, Goal Defence and Goal Keeper. Each position has their own designated area to keep to on court.
There are 3 main units -- Shooters, Mid-courts and Defenders.
Goal Shooter & Goal Attack
work with the mid-court to bring the ball down the court and ultimately shoot it in
Wing Attack & Centre
work with the shooters to bring the ball down the court and feed the ball to the shooters
Wing Defence, Goal Defence and Goal Keeper
intercept the ball from the opposing team and prevent them from scoring goals
Netball is a fast-paced and dynamic sport, it demands agility, speed 🏃♀️💨, and precision from it’s players. From explosive sprints, to sudden changes of direction, high leaps and pivots. Apart from that, similar to most sports, it is also a mental game. If you are keen on pushing your limits and challenging yourself, this is for you!
My most memorable experience in RVNB is the friendly people who showed me the ways when i first joined. No matter our class or batch, we still helped, supported, and cheered one another on! Everyone training together and encouraging one another is what makes trainings fun and enjoyable!
Ng Kai Wen Karin, batch of 2022
The most memorable experience for me is when the CCA ends and everyone is doing stretches to cool down. In the meantime, we would comment on each other's performance during the training and compliment each other on the good work done or provide feedback on the ways to improve. We learn from mistakes together and benefit from each other's performances. The compliments or consolations I received also allowed me to persevere through the hardships and made me more committed to contribute and fight for our team.
Shara Tay, batch of 2022
I guess I wouldn't really say I have a defined most memorable experience in netball but what I love most about netball is the bond we have between one another, the feeling that there's always a team that has your back, a second family in RV. Even though I've been changing classes throughout my years in RV, the one thing that really stayed constant was the same group of people I call my teammates. This bond that we share since Secondary 1 is indescribable; we don't have to hang out every single day or talk all the time to know that we've got each other's back and can talk about anything and everything to each other. I think that getting to train together, compete together, cry together and laugh together is what makes me put netball so close to my heart and I wouldn't trade it for anything else. No matter win or lose, we had a ton of fun getting where we are and we've got each other and that's what really matters.
Lim Zi Xuan Chloe, batch of 2023
To me, my most memorable experience in netball is not one particular event or training but the collection of the memories I have made with my teammates in the past 6 years. The many gym sessions where we have fun blasting music and taking time-lapse of us struggling to complete the exercises, playing together on the wet and slippery court outside, bus rides to our games, dinners after training and so many more. The past 6 years in Netball has taught me so much, most importantly what a true team is like. It is not about winning but about working together, having fun together, and pushing each other to be the best versions of ourselves. These bonds that I have forged with my teammates through our trainings, punishments and seasons are irreplaceable and so valuable to me!
Faith Lee Le Xuan, batch of 2024
