Everyone is welcome! Put aside your worries about not coming from any sort of sports background as the right attitude and passion to learn is what we would like to see. If you have an interest in the sport and are willing to learn, feel free to join our trials and explore frisbee together! No prior experience needed :)
We were the baby sharks (2025), and now we are Scoobydoos (2026)!
If netball and rugby had a baby, it would be Ultimate Frisbee. Ultimate is a 7v7 sport that comprises elements from both aforementioned sports which, if played at a high level, promotes a mix of physical, mental and intellectual prowess.
The main goal of the game is to catch the disc in the opposing team’s end zone to score a point. The standard size of the playing field is approximately one soccer penalty box to the other, so definitely sign up if you love running and sprinting. Also, similar to netball, once a player catches the disc, they are not allowed to move with the disc and can only pass the disc to another player in order to advance.
Roles:
Handlers: Players who are responsible for distributing the disc (think basketball point guards)
Cutters: Players who predominantly help to advance the disc by running into open spaces to receive the disc from handlers
A n annual competition where all batches of River Valley Ultimate Frisbee, past and present, come together to have a good time!
The 2019 batch of seniors clinching 1st runner up!
The 2025 batch of seniors and juniors clinching 3rd runner up!
Frisbee to me is a sport unlike others where it maintains the competitiveness whilst focusing on maintaining good spirit and upholding integrity of the game. Its unique nature of self-umpiring helps bring out the values within people on top of playing the sport. My most memorable moments are when we continuously pursue the sport outside school in external competitions and the fulfilling team gatherings, helping us grow closer.
Awba Hein (24J20, Captain of RVU 2024-2025)
To me, frisbee is more than just the win, but rather the friendships forged along the way - seeing us grow together as a team provides a sense of fulfillment. My most memorable moments are our meals together after trainings, where we bond and laugh together.
Jeremy Chua Jie Ren (24J09, RVU team 2024-2025)
Frisbee to me is a fun sport that encourages competitive spirit and team communication. It fosters friendship and builds relationships. My most memorable moment in frisbee is the few gatherings after cca with my teammates and just having conversations together.
Cedric Ng Jing Xue (24J18, RVU team 2024-2025)
Frisbee to me is a sport that really pushes you to your limits - giving it our all under the hot sun, turning one shade darker each training. But my most memorable moments aren’t just on the field; it’s the friendships we’ve built along the way and just seeing our team grow closer. From tough trainings to team lunches and dinners, these moments helped me forget about the hectic JC life, even if just for a while!
Ong Rachel (24J16, RVU team 2024-2025)
We welcome everyone regardless of their skillset and background! Knowledge of the sport is not required, and we will ensure that everyone progresses together :)
A very friendly and wholesome environment, with passionate and helpful seniors. With all our trainings, PT, and bonding sessions, we are a very close-knitted team. Our coaches and teachers constantly push us to become better versions of ourselves, and we learn to remain determined and resilient in the face of adversity. At the end of the day, we have the support of our teammates, teachers, coaches and seniors, which enables us to learn from our mistakes. Join RVU if you’re up for a challenge!
Yes, 1-2 times a week except for protected periods. The coach and teachers are also very understanding towards players’ personal commitments.
Preferably not due to the intensity and commitment required of the CCA but acceptable if you can manage multiple CCAs. CCA days must not clash as well.
