REPORTING AN ABSENCE
In order for an absence to be excused, students and parent(s)/ guardian(s) must adhere to the following reporting:
Parent/guardian must notify the school office the morning of the student's absence; or
Parent/guardian must provide a signed note to the school office within two (2) days of the student's return to school. The note must include the reason for the absence and the date(s) that is/are to be excused.
Parents/guardians fill out an absence request in your Skyward Family Access Account.
Students must report directly to the office upon their return to school from any absence.
Students are to report to the office to:
Make sure an appropriate call was received to report and excuse the absence, or
Present a note to excuse the absence.
APPOINTMENT PASSES
Passes should be obtained in the attendance office the day before or morning of the appointment.
Students leaving for appointments must check out in the main office and return through the main office.
Parents should pick up students from the main office (Door #13).
PLANNED EXTENDED ABSENCES
It is best that extended trips be planned to coincide with the school calendar.
Parents and guardians should let teachers and the main office know at least two weeks in advance if trips are going to occur during the school year.
It is the students' responsibility to make certain all assignments are turned in prior to the vacation period or as arranged by their teachers.
LEAVING SCHOOL GROUNDS/LOITERING
Students, even when accompanied by parents or guardians, are not to leave the school grounds during the day without a pass from the office. Once students are dropped off by parents or exit off of the school bus, they are expected to stay on school grounds/enter the school once doors are open.
At the end of the day, students who ride the bus must stay on the school grounds in their designated bus line until their bus arrives. Provisions will be made for bus riders waiting for their buses during inclement weather.
Students are expected to be out of the building and off school grounds by 3:40 p.m. unless waiting for a bus, are with a staff member, or are under the supervision of a coach, advisor, or their parent/ guardian.
Once a student leaves the building or property after school, the student is not permitted back on the premises. Students are not to be on the property or inside school unless permission is given by a staff member or if participating in the "The Boys and Girls Club.” Supervisors or other staff members have the authority to ask students to leave the building/grounds if their behavior warrants this action.
