Indicator 5I: Understands how to use digital and interactive technologies for efficiently and effectively achieving specific learning goals.
Rationale:
This artifact is a website that we would use very frequently in my classroom. For this specific assignment, we created a custom activity that was interactive for students and connected to the content we were learning during our statistic unit. This website offers the ability for teachers to design very interactive activities for students to complete.
This artifact meets the standard because this website and activity are able to engage students in a unique way to give them real life problems and develop their critical thinking. For this specific activity we talking about estimating a population and using this tool we were able to make questions connect to real life situations. Using this website the teacher is able to see students answers in the dashboard and give feedback to students right away. The indicator above is a great representation for this artifact because this activity uses technology in a very interactive way for students. Overall this artifact meets the standard for innovation applications of content and challenges students to think outside the box in a math classroom.
Indicator 5o: Understands creative thinking processes and how to engage learners in producing original work.
Rationale:
This artifact was part of the summative assessment for my statistic unit. Student had to create a survey for their class working with a partner, in a small group, or working by themselves. Above are listed the specific directions and requirements students need to have in their survey. Also there is an example of a student's survey they created.
This artifact meets the standard because this has student being creative and engaging in their own learning. Other than the requirements students needed to have in their survey, students got to pick their own topic and questions. They were able to pick something they were passionate about and had interest in collecting data about. The data that they were collecting would hopefully help them learn something new about their topic. The indicator above is a great representation of this artifact because for this assignment students were producing their own original work. This artifact meets the standard because students are able to be stakeholders in their own learning and be creative and learn how to build connections between in class assignments and real world problems.
