The teacher works with learners to create environments that support individual and collaborative learning, encouraging positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation.
This means as a teacher you are able to create a safe learning environment for all of your students and work hard to understand how students work best when they are in your classroom.
Indicator 3e: Uses a variety of methods to engage learners in evaluating the learning environment and collaborates with learners to make appropriate adjustments.
Rationale:
This artifact is a youtube video I created for my students when we moved to remote learning. Even though I wouldn't be seeing all my students in person everyday I felt these videos were important for students to still see me, and to give directions for todays assignments.
The goal of the videos on a daily basis was to let students know what the assignments were for the day, and for students to still see me talking to them. Based on my students feedback they enjoyed the videos, I tried to be upbeat during the videos just like I would be in the classroom. This artifact meets the standard because I'm using a unique way during a unique time to meet the needs of my students, and create a virtual classroom. Creating a safe learning environment is very important to me, and then making adjustments from that to meet specific needs of students. The indicator above is a great representation of my artifact because I'm using different methods to engage my students in my virtual classroom.
Indicator 3o: Values the role of learners in promoting each others learning and recognizes the importance of peer relationships in establishing a climate of learning.
Rationale:
This artifact was part of the summative assessment for my statistic unit. Student had to create a survey for their class working with a partner, in a small group, or working by themselves. Above are listed the specific directions and requirements students need to have in their survey. Also there is an example of a student's survey they created.
This artifact meets the standard because students had the option to work with peers or by themselves for this assignment. This assignment was done over remote learning so I had to scaffold and figure out the best way for students to complete this assignment. Students worked with peers, and then their peers had to fill out their survey. This creates a very inclusive classroom environment where all students are working together to create their data for their own specific survey. Students learned what it takes to work together in a group atmosphere and to be a team player. This indicator is a great representation of this artifact because the teacher promotes students being involved in their own learning and peers being interactive in the classroom. This assignment created a safe classroom environment where students were able to share their work with classmates and work together to finish and implement their surveys.
