The teacher seeks appropriate leadership roles and opportunities to take responsibility for student learning, to collaborate with learners, families, colleagues, other school professionals, and community members to ensure learner growth and to advance the profession.
This means that the teacher is able to collaborate with colleagues and other people in the community to continue to work on becoming a better educator for your students.
Indicator 10f: Engages in professional learning, contributes to the knowledge and skill of others, and works collaboratively to advance professionals practice.
Rationale:
This artifact is the training that the UMF students teachers participated in during the UMF professional development day. This consisted of a four hour training with my fellow UMF peers about civil rights, and how important all of the different aspects of civil rights are in the classroom setting.
This artifact meets the standard of collaboration because during this training I worked with colleagues to discuss different topics during the training. Discussing in small groups and in whole groups was great for everyone to learn from their peers and continue to develop their knowledge about civil rights topics. The indicator above is a great representation of the artifact because during this training I was engaged during professional learning. Overall this artifact is a great example of collaboration with other young aspiring educators and learning on how I can better implement civil rights topics into my school and classroom.
Indicator 10c: Engages collaboratively in the school-wide effort to build a shared vision and supportive culture, identify common goals, and monitor and evaluate progress toward those goals.
Rationale:
This artifact the ongoing weekly agenda for the MBMS staff. Every Wednesday during school we would have a staff meeting in the morning. Now with remote learning we have staff meetings on Thursdays. During this time as a staff we discuss different on going events during school and other topics. Their are many different school wide programs going on in the middle school, so this time is very important for teachers to communicate with one in other.
This artifact meets the standard of collaboration because these weekly staff meetings are one of the main ways for teachers to communicate with each other on a weekly basis. In a big school like MBMS some teachers don't have the opportunity to collaborate with each other, but this time gives teachers the opportunity to communicate with different grade levels. The indicator above is a great representation of this artifact because during this staff meeting time I was able to work with other staff in a school wide setting to promote some of our school wide vision and programs. Overall this artifact meets the standard of collaboration because I was able to collaborate with teachers during these meetings that I normally would not have gotten to interact with.
