April 2022
In this issue of Innovation Connections, you will see a lot of exciting events that are happening this month.
April 6-8
Arizona Women in Higher Education (AWHE) will hold its annual conference. AWHE aims to create a network for women in higher education to enhance leadership potential, build skills, share information, and support women leaders in higher education. It also helps develop strategies to improve institutional climates for women in higher education. This year’s keynote speakers include Dr. Celeste Atkins, Assistant Director of Faculty Mentoring Initiatives for the University of Arizona, and Dr. Enjolie Lafaurie, a media personality and psychology professor. The breakout sessions feature a wide variety of topics from service leadership, digital equity, removing barriers to student support in rural colleges.
April 9
NPC Eagle Fest will be held at White Mountain Campus. Our Early College and Office of Accessibility and Inclusion will be participating in this year’s event. Come find our booths (and enjoy some live music and free food)!
April 18
This is the last day to file your federal income tax return and make any payments owed. The deadline is typically April 15. But that day lands on Emancipation Day this year, so the tax filing deadline is pushed to the next business day. NPC will provide volunteers and space for VITA, and our Library Services has put together a great resource guide for taxpayers. Check out the Odds and Ends section in the newsletter.
April 28
Arizona Open Textbook Consortium will hold a virtual Annual Professional Development Workgroup Conference from 9am-1pm. All faculty and staff who are interested in OER are welcome to register. For more information go to the Open Textbook Grant section in the newsletter.
April 29
This month’s Fourth Friday Training Workshop will facilitate a discussion about active learning. Our faculty mentors will share best practices in engaging students in active learning. For more information visit the ITCS Department Newsletter section.
Please check out all the wonderful resources and events in our April newsletter. Enjoy!
