May 2021
As we head into the summer of 2021 (finally!), here are some great projects our team will be working on in the next few months.
The Instructional Technology and Curriculum Support (ITCS) Department will be working with faculty, TAS, and Enrollment/Student Services on getting the HyFlex pilot ready for the spring of 2022. In addition, the department will continue to develop trainings for full-time, adjunct, and Early College instructors and plan for the fall new faculty mentoring.
Our library staff will be busy removing outdated or damaged materials and adding new titles at all campus locations. They also have a ton of ebooks and audio books for your summer reading pleasure. Check out the LIBRARIES section in this newsletter for more information. We will say goodbye to our associate librarian Lori Carmona, who is leaving at the end of June. She will be missed!
The Early College team will spend much time strengthening student, family, and high school team resources. They have a long list of projects and one of them is the acquisition of a software to enhance the high school enrollment process.
The Office of Accessibility and Inclusion (OAI) just launched a new academic planner, which will be distributed to high school seniors with disabilities attending NPC to help them become more confident in their ability to manage assignments and due dates of projects. In addition, OAI will continue to collaborate with several departments to launch the META Teletherapy for our students this fall.
Our Perkins Coordinator Ann Hilliard has been working diligently to complete the Comprehensive Local Need Assessment (CLNA) and the GY22 Grant Application. This is a big collaborative effort that involves many individuals and will go into the summer.
Summer is also a good time for professional development. Some of us will be attending workshops and/or presenting at conferences such as EDUCAUSE HyFlex Learning Labs, EDUCAUSE New Managers Institute, ISW Facilitator’s Training, The International Conference on Open and Innovative Education, AZTransfer Retreat, HigherEdWeb 2021, National Conference on Race and Ethnicity, etc.
VPLSS Council, Leadership Council, Strategic Planning Task Force, and Presidential Transition Team will continue to meet this summer. One important project with the Strategic Planning Task Force is to identify the KPIs and targets for the three strategic goals (increase student enrollment, improve student outcomes, and improve college sustainability). Another project in progress is the acquisition of a course scheduling software to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the scheduling and use of learning spaces and resources collegewide. I will keep you updated with the development as we move forward.
I want to thank you for all your hard work in a very challenging year. Have a safe and relaxing summer!
