Digital Communication
There are a number of ways to increase communication with students, families, the community and more through the use of digital tools. Browse this page for a few resources and ideas.
Google Docs
Communicate in real-time with your students through the comments feature in Google Docs. Provide assistance with grammar, punctuation, sentence structure and content through the use of comments. By providing timely feedback, students can make revisions based upon teacher suggestions and input.
Google Sites
Share student work and communicate with the entire class, parents and/or community in a variety of ways using Google Sites. Any site can have multiple editors, allowing your students to contribute to the class page. Sites can be viewed on any device through a shared URL. Use templates to create a newsletter that can be shared with parents to keep them informed.
Google Slides
Show and share learning with Google Slides. Include step by step instructions using images, video and audio. Add hyperlinks to other supporting materials so students can refer back to the resources at any time.
Google Classroom
Post announcements, questions, surveys and polls to your students. As an added benefit, utilize the parent/guardian summaries to keep parents informed of upcoming due dates, missing and/or late work.
Google Hangouts Meet
Connect with experts, authors, artists and more through a live video chat. Students can guide the discussion through questions that are submitted and voted on by their peers.
Google Forms & Sheets
Quickly gather data through surveys and polls. Analyze the data that is automatically populated into a Google Sheet by using the sort & filter feature.
Screencastify
Create a newscast of classroom activities or upcoming events that can be shared or posted to keep everyone informed. A perfect companion to Google Slides.
YoTeach!
This backchannel option tracks discussions that are secondary to any presentation, video or lesson through an online chat room type space. Teachers can set up a password protected 'room' where students can post comments, add drawings, or use the pen feature to draw or write.
Twitter
Twitter is a growing communication platform that will give you the opportunity to share the amazing things you are doing in the classroom and connect with other professionals. Content is easily sorted and searched by the use of hashtags (#).
