I am Maddie Wayne and I am a firstyear at Macalester College. I plan to study International Studies and Spanish, with a concentration in Community and Global Health. I am from Brunswick Maine, and I enjoy running, cross country skiing, and hiking with my dog in my free time. I am also on the Cross Country and Track teams at Mac!
Pandemic Journal:
"While I don’t claim that a pandemic alone can resemble the stress of living in poverty and those stresses (after all, the impoverished are living through a pandemic too right now, with stressors that I can’t even begin to imagine) I do feel that the pandemic and being in a suspended state of anxiety for months can serve as a taste of what the constant stress of being in poverty may be like." -11/19/20
"If there is a soft time limit on three more months, we can do that. We can do anything as long as there is an end date in sight, light at the end of the tunnel. And although "The next three months are going to be simply horrible” is not exactly the kind of end date proclamation that I really want to hear, it is certainly better than an expectation for three more years of Covid. The end is in sight." - 12/06/20
