Our Year 7 students recently took part in an exciting, action-packed STEM Day, packed with hands-on challenges designed to spark curiosity and creativity across Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths. And what a day it was!
One of the standout highlights was the catapult-building challenge 🚀. Working in teams, students designed and constructed their own catapults using a range of materials. They explored key scientific concepts such as force, angles, and energy transfer, testing and refining their designs to improve both accuracy and distance. The competitive element brought incredible energy to the room, with students eagerly launching their creations and celebrating each success (and learning from the near misses!).
We also saw some fantastic engineering in action during the Tornado Tower challenge đź—Ľ. Students investigated aerodynamics and air movement, designing structures capable of withstanding tornado-like conditions and added weight. This task really pushed them to think critically about stability, structure, and design, applying classroom knowledge in a practical and engaging way.
Throughout the day, our students demonstrated outstanding teamwork, resilience, and problem-solving skills. They embraced every challenge with enthusiasm, showed a willingness to experiment, and—most importantly—learned from their mistakes to improve their designs. 🎊
STEM Day was a brilliant opportunity for students to see how what they learn in lessons connects directly to the real world 🌍. It was inspiring to witness so many budding engineers, scientists, and mathematicians in action.
A huge thank you to Mr Yousaf, Ms Bunger, and Mr Horton for delivering such engaging sessions, and as always, a special thank you to Mr Atallah for all his support in making the day run smoothly!
College Day Dodgeball Madness!
College Day was full of energy, laughs, and fierce competition as students took to the court for an epic dodgeball showdown! Teams battled it out with quick reflexes, clever dodges, and plenty of playful competition. Cheers, friendly rivalries, and the occasional dramatic dive made it a day to remember. It wasn’t just about winning, it was about teamwork, laughter, and pure, unmissable fun.

⚽Year 7 Football⚽
The Year 7 Football team beat Bishop Challoner on Tuesday to book their place in the Birmingham Schools' Cup Final. In what was an entertaining game, with the away side missing two penalties and both teams missing a host of chances, Lordswood scored in the final minute to secure their place in the final. This is a fantastic achievement for the team and the success we have had this year within a Football provision demonstrates the success of our programme. Cup Final details will be released when we are aware of the date and location.Â
Year 9 Rugby Competition
A group of our Year 9 students travelled to Moseley Rugby Club yesterday to compete in a T1 Rugby event. The event was a mixed tournament so we teamed up with the Girl's School so that we met the entry criteria. Students have been training the last few weeks, their commitment and attitude has been exceptional. The students had a great day, competing and developing their Rugby skills. It was great to see the boys work with the girls as we continue to grow our partnership with the Girl's School.Â
