A few weeks ago, a group of enthusiastic Year 9, 10, and 11 students proudly represented our school in the UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge. This prestigious 60-minute, multiple-choice competition is designed to inspire and challenge young mathematicians. It encourages logical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in mathematical techniques. The carefully crafted problems are accessible to all participants, while still offering a stimulating challenge for those with more experience. Taking part in the challenge provides a fantastic opportunity for students to develop their problem-solving skills and engage with mathematics beyond the classroom. It allows them to think creatively, apply their knowledge in new ways, and build confidence in tackling complex problems.
We are delighted to share that our students performed exceptionally well this year, demonstrating impressive mathematical ability and resilience throughout the competition. Their hard work and dedication truly paid off, and their results reflect both their talent and commitment.
A full breakdown of results can be seen below. A huge congratulations to Luke and Hussein, who both achieved the highest scores in the school, an outstanding accomplishment! We are immensely proud of every student who took part. Their enthusiasm and determination showcase the strength of mathematics in our school community.
Please see the photos below of students receiving their certificates, we hope you enjoy celebrating their success with us.
Last week, we hosted our Central College Community Event, raising awareness and funds for Prostate Cancer UK. As an all-boys school that values diversity and heritage, it is vital that we educate our students about this disease. Through a KS3 cinema event, before-school football for KS3 and KS4, and a whole-school raffle, our community came together in an incredible show of support. Together, we raised £951, and as of 17th March, our wider community total stands at an amazing £1,809. Thank you to everyone for your generosity and empathy.
This cause is personal. In 2022, my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Thanks to early detection through a PSA test, despite no symptoms, his life was saved.
Why This Matters: Prostate cancer is a serious and often silent disease.
1 in 8 men will develop prostate cancer
1 in 4 Black men are at risk
1 in 4 men with a family history of prostate or breast cancer are at risk
Take Action: A quick, one-minute risk check could save a life: https://prostatecanceruk.org/risk-checker
By talking to parents, grandparents, and loved ones, we can help raise awareness and encourage early detection. Thank you again for your support, these conversations truly matter.

Year 7 Residential
From Ms Sandhu, Assistant Principal
Our Year 7 residential has been a fantastic opportunity for pupils to step outside their comfort zones, embrace new challenges, and, most importantly, begin forming strong and lasting friendships. From the excitement of canoeing and paddleboarding to the teamwork required in raft building, pupils have worked together, supported one another, and shared plenty of laughter along the way. These shared experiences have already helped to build a real sense of community, with many pupils growing in confidence.
This is just a glimpse of what has been an unforgettable experience so far, keep an eye out for next week’s blog, where we’ll be sharing more highlights and celebrating all that our Year 7 pupils have achieved. They are due back today at 3pm and we will keep parents posted on the arrival time and look forward to welcoming them back.

As we approach the final week of term, I would like to take a moment to thank all students for their continued effort and commitment. With just one week to go until the Easter break, it is important that we maintain our focus and attendance, and finish the term strong. Every day in school matters, attendance, engagement in lessons, and a willingness to take part in the wide range of opportunities and experiences available all contribute significantly to personal and academic success. I encourage all students to make the most of these opportunities and to continue striving to do their very best.
“Keep working hard, stay focused, and take pride in everything you do—your efforts now will shape your success tomorrow.”
On Monday 23rd March, students are warmly invited to wear cultural dress or non uniform, as we celebrate the diversity of our school community. We look forward to seeing this reflected across the school.
I would also like to extend my very best wishes to all families celebrating Eid, Eid Mubarak. This is a special time of reflection, gratitude, and community, and an opportunity to come together with family and friends to celebrate shared values and traditions. We hope that those celebrating have a joyful and peaceful time, and that the spirit of generosity and kindness associated with Eid is felt across our whole school community.
